Food4Skin 28 : FarmStay Cica Farm Recovery Ampoule

10:30:00 PM

Hey guys..

It's been a long long while since the last time i reviewed a skin care product out of my own will *LOL*. Yes, i admit that 100% of the skincare reviews i've been posting in the past few years had been paid posts, but i can assure you that it'd never impact the quality or the integrity of my reviews, they all remain my honest opinion on them. Thing is.. I've always been more interested in makeusp than skincares, by a mile. For me, makeup is super exciting and exhilarating while skincare is more like a task, a responsibility. I use them because i know my skin needs them, but after using so many different ones ... most of the time i find them to be quite similar to each other that it's hard for me to be excited for them.

That's why i need more... incentive and push to blog about skincare, hence - the 100% paid posts for skincare, until today, that is! While i'd still call this post sponsored (because i did receive the product in PR for a chance to be reviewed, but normally i'd just review them briefly in my IG), i've never been asked to specifically blog about it nor i am receiving monetary compensation to do so, i just find the product to be unique and exciting (and it works wonderfully on my skin) so i'm willingly sitting my ass down and type this post!

I'm talking about a product from (yet another) a lesser known K-beauty brand, FarmStay - their Cica Farm Recovery Ampoule.

 FarmStay Cica Farm Recovery Ampoule

Comes in this white and green outer box
It claims to brighten and improve wrinkle problems
As Cica or Centella Asiatica remains to be one of my all time fave ingredients, it should come in no surprise that i love this ampoule so much
Now, i'm actually pretty new when it comes to ampoules. Prior to this, i've only used one other ampoule (from Skin1000, which i also like - but i honestly prefer this one!) that is totally different from this one so i was quite confused when i see the product for the first time. The only similarities between the two is that they are bigger in size compared to serums or moisturizers, so i'm guessing we're supposed to use in more amount compared to the other two?

I don't do layers when it comes to skin care, i have very oily skin and i live in super humid tropical country (and the city i'm residing in is especially hot!) so i really can't deal with K-beauty 7 steps skincare (or the more extreme 13 steps, my skin is suffocating from the mere idea of it!) so i'm pretty confused on where in your skin care routine (if you're going to layer) ampoule should go - but a simple Google search said that ampoule should be used after serum but i personally don't think you need both (another quick research told me that ampoule is basically a supercharged serum so i totally don't think you need both, especially not if you have oily skin) unless you have very dry, dehydrated skin - but you totally can if you want to OFC. Another rule that i stick by is starting with your most watery product (clearly it should be toner) and make your way towards the thickest formula (which would be moisturizer).

I personally been using this Cica Farm Recovery Ampoule on its own every night for the past 2 weeks and it's been doing wonders to my skin!).
The ampoule comes in a pretty large jar that looks similar to a multi vitamin's *LOL*. I seriously never had a skincare that comes in this kind of container before! It housed 250ml worth of ampoule, which is quite a lot

And it comes with a small spoon (it's not quite a spatula) to scoop out the product

Don't you think this ampoule is very unique looking and absolutely fascinating? It's almost like looking into a miniature of the cosmos or something!

As the texture is watery gel, the spoon is absolutely essential and not only for hygiene purposes because without it, picking the product out would be a complete mess - everytime!

There are tiny white beads in it that dissolves when you massage the product into your skin

The texture is definitely unique, almost like... watery slime?
Due to the texture, it doesn't gets absorbed into the skin instantly (like most serum does), it requires a little massaging +  time, and it feels a bit tacky at first  but once it's fully absorbed, it makes my skin feels super smooth and soft with not a trace of greasiness nor tackiness. It has a pleasant cooling sensation (nothing too major or overly minty, just a very soothing type of cooling) and it has a very green scent with a tinge of mint. If i can be honest, the smell sometimes reminds me of toothpaste haha.

Although it doesn't feel heavy at all on the skin, i immediately feel it giving my skin deep and thorough hydration. I like to use it at night and when i wake up in the morning, my skin feels smooth and plump without being crazy greasy like some other serum/moisturizer does.
Oily skin definitely can appreciate this, trust me! Especially if you have dehydrated skin, i'm guessing y'all are educated enough to know that oily skin doesn't always mean it's not dehydrated? When people with oily skin also suffers from dehydration, the skin would produce even more oil but in the inner layer your skin remains dehydrated. This would present you with even more skin problems!

I definitely feel that my skin barrier has been strengthened significantly with regular use of this ampoule

If you've been following me for a while, you probably heard me complain about allergy attacks that i've been suffering in the past few years (the beauty of aging *LOL*. Nobody told me that aging would create havoc like this, even presenting you with allergies that i never had as a child/younger person - i once thought that allergies is something that mostly younger children would suffer from, not someone going into their middle age LOL), they come and go but when they come hard, not only they'd leave hard (sometimes itchy, sometimes just painful) red bumps on my face, they'd also make my skin itchy and dehydrated. When this happens, most of my skincare would not be able to help - and on my last attack, even the mildest, most soothing serum i have couldn't make my skin feel better - only when i start using this ampoule (with combination of Charis Glow+ Serum in the morning) that my skin began to improve tremendously!

Now my skin pretty much is in tip top condition (despite allergies that still surge from time to time) : supple, plump and also clear (as Cica is also well known to prevent and treat acne!). This is clearly why i really love this ampoule and it definitely has found its permanent way into my skincare routine!

FarmStay Cica Farm Recovery Ampoule is available in Charis, but unfortunately at the moment Charis Indonesia is undergoing reconstruction so i cannot link you up to my Shop, but once they are back on i will update!

Do you use ampoules in your skincare routine too? What's your fave ampoule? Please let me know in the comment section below!
