Hey dears!

Yes, it's time for another dose of awesome nail art courtesy of Kiki Coroline! If you've read my previous post for Kiki, you'd know that Kiki is a nail artist/nail designer that's massively, massively talented and i am more than happy to announce that she's now somewhat of a permanent nail sponsor for me *LOL*. Navi gel polish and Meidisi No Overflow

What's the Meidisi No Overflow thingy? Despite the statement "Water Base Nail Color", it is NOT a nail colors/polish hehe. It's actually a product to protect your cuticles and skin around your nails from getting painted on while doing some techniques of nail arts. It's very useful especially for those of you who are into nail arts, saves a lot of time and pain from cleaning the paints off your cuticle/skin! Will show you later on how it works!

My friend Silvi was there that day to do her toe nails in preparation for her wedding day and she helped us take this pic, thank you Silvi!

As usual, Kiki started by giving me a mini manicure and took care of my nails and cuticles (although she refused wholeheartedly to cut my nails zzz)

Then she applied the base color, she combined this baby pink color gel polish (Harmony) with a turquoise one from Navi

Then because she wanted to try out this new technique called "Japanese Marble" nail art, she applied the Meidisi No Overflow thingy around my nails (yep, that's how you use it peeps!)

Although she's already really good, i really admire that Kiki is still very eager to learn more! She recently went to a nail course with a famous Japanese nail artist (not that i know her, i'm not exactly familiar with nail celebrities hahaha) and one of the technique she learned was this marble technique and i was obviously her willing victim...

Next she applied black and white messy dots with a nail brush

The next step was to dab the dots with tissue paper to create the marbling effect, i somehow lost the photo >.<. All of the pictures in this post are taken with my (and Kiki's) Iphone because the forgetful me actually forgot to bring my camera along #someblogger and what's worse my fave app (Camera 360 *LOL*, love the luminous, dreamy effect!) kept on crashing on me that day so i lost lots of pics zzz.

Anyway, that sounds very simple, yeah? Make dots (no need to even be neat) and then dab with tissue paper. Yeah, until you try it yourself *LOL*. That's what differentiate between nail artists and a mere mortal like me i guess hahaha.

Of course the dabbing part left mess on my cuticles, but we've already applied the Meidisi (available for purchase in Me-Nail!) protector so no worries! Kiki simply pluck them off easily with tweezers!

Another new(ish) product in Me-Nail is Nail Jewels!

Picked gorgeous crown designs for my thumbs. Kiki attached them with acrylic gel so they'd stick on better (yep, they stuck really well even though i kept on getting them stuck on stuffs)

The one on my ring fingers are not optional though, Kiki already announced she wanted to use the one with tassels!

Then everything was sealed with a clear top coat that made the marble pattern more pronounced!

Kiki also added rhinestones on the marble nails

Got loads of comments (and compliments) for this nail design, and they all marveled at how they really look like marbles!

People also kept on asking me if the tassles are unconvenient, well... to a degree they were. They kept on getting stuck on my keyboard at first (which is bad since i need to type everyday!) but after a while i get used to it and can avoid getting stuck, they also got tangled on my shower puffs *sigh*, but surprisingly it's the big crown jewels on the thumb which were harder to maneuver around in! By the time Kiki took the design off, the tasseled nail jewels were still attached (despite losing 3 out of 4 tassels, i also didn't know when it happened hahaha) while the crowns on the thumbs got ripped of (rather painfully!) a few days before we took them off!

In summary, it's not as hard as i thought it would to wear, but i still find it mind-boggling on how those Japanese girls can survive with their crazy long nails and wild nail designs! Btw, the nail jewels lasted very long as well, it was almost 2 weeks for me, and for those of you who are not as clumsy/reckless as me, they'd last even longer!

The fact that Kiki still goes to nail courses also something i'd like to point out because i know most people still feel reluctant to pay a lot for their nails. I can understand that you might not want to spend a fortune for your everyday nail, but for special occasion i'd strongly recommend using the services by prestigious nail artists like Kiki instead of getting the half-hearted attempt by just some nailist in random nail spa to save some money (and ended up being half disappointed with the result!), it's totally worth it!

Kiki's prices might seem steep, but in comparison with the result, the time she spent on meticulously perfecting each nail, the high quality (and super expensive) products she uses, not to mention the money she spent on nail courses (they're VERY expensive alright) to get to this point-it's totally worth it!

Review : Japanese Nail Art by Kiki Coroline (SPONSORED)

Hello hello :D!

Sorry for posting sponsored posts back to back (i'm not sure why i'm apologizing since this is my blog and i should be able to post whatever i want *LOL*), but i need to get (most of them) done before i can leisurely post nonsense again! This one is especially backdated!

You probably have noticed me repeatedly mentioning my talented nail artist friend Kiki Coroline (whom i like to affectionately call Kiki Kweeee, much to her annoyance hahahaha), she is also the talent behind this awesome nail blog. But long gone are the days when she only has her own nails to play with since she is now a respected nail artis/designer who has lots of clients raving about the awesomeness of her creations (me included! Although i am not technically a client la hahaha. More like... a victim i guess? Hahahah. A willing one!).

So Kiki had been asking me to let her play around with my nails for a while now, we finally set up a date... In late July. WTF. Very backdated indeed, this nail art was done for Little O's Bday (which i also haven't blogged about *sigh*) so it's gonna have to be cute enough for a kid's birthday party!

FYI, a nail session with Kiki can be done in her studio (around Kinibalu area, Surabaya. Exact location would only be given upon appointment ^^) or in Me-Nail Klampis. Since my place is nearby Me-Nail Klampis (Kiki is the resident nail artist in Me-Nail, among her other titles hahaha. She's one busy lady), i decided to get my nails done there.

I still had my old gel nail art on so Kiki helped me took them off first :

Then she gave me a very thorough basic manicure, she cleaned my cuticle (very very obsessively, let me tell you. While complaining about how dry they are. Talk about perfectionist!) until they're pretty much perfect and gave me some strengthening serum (because i demand so. My nails' been gelled back to back to back, i really think they need the serum although Kiki said they're still very strong and i have nothing to worry about *stare darkly*).

I was really surprised when Kiki told me they're gel polishes! I have never seen this type of gel polish before, they're not even in the normal varnish-liquid form and must be used with... soak off solution? Or was it cleanser? Sorry lah, my knowlegde of the nail world is limited at best haha. I died when i saw those CUTE pastel colors, DIE I TELL YOU!!! #hysterical

And must apply them very thinly (Kiki used several coats to reach the desirable opaqueness)

Okay, let's take a moment to appreciate the gorgeousness of this UV lamp. Seriously, just lamp need to be so chio meh? Kawaii much!!!

Since Kiki is a nail artist with result that surpass normal nailist' works, her rate is obviously higher than normal nail salons. But i promise you, she's worth it! LOL. Her work is totally meticulous, flawless and awesome! Not saying this because i am sponsored or because i know her personally, but because she really is awesome okay! She's probably the best nail artist that i know of. You know those crazy nail arts on Pinterest or Instagram (i act like i know Pinterest. I don't)? She can easily replicate them. That's how good she is.

Other than the fact that her work is better, she also use better accessories to apply on your nail art, if you want to go for those bling bling look? She uses swarovzki, how do you expect to pay dirt cheap for that kind of quality, i ask?

We chatted a lot while Kiki's working on my nails so i didn't even realize how much time has passed, only my almost-broken back (thanks to that stoopit desk zzz. Yes, i really hate that desk!!!) disagree though. It was almost 3 hours *gasp*. You need to be patient if you want a flawless result okay! Kiki wanted to do a kawaii Japanese nail art for me to *ahem* suit my style, she said.

I can safely say that it's the absolute fave nail art design i've ever had so far!

While you might think that much detailed nail art is too much for everyday life (not to mention pricey. But a good nail art can last up to a month in my experience, so actually it's still worth it!), you cannot deny that they're a perfect companion for your special days. Namely wedding! Kiki also specializes in beautiful wedding nail arts (if i'm not mistaken her rate starts from IDR 350.000 for gel nail art. The crazier you want it, the more expensive it will become-naturally) for your very special day, let me show you some of her works :

Tokyo Belle Soft Opening Blogger Event

Hey guys :D!

Does the name Tokyo Belle ring a bell? If you're in Jakarta, you'd probably have heard about this beauty salon from Japan (they already have four branches in Jakarta alone! More to come!)-even i've heard about them before (because they had a collaboration with KBJ before and as one of KBJ's bloggers/members, i definitely read about them in KBJ's posts although before i couldn't join their campaigns and try out their services because Jakarta's not exactly half an hour away *LOL*, not even by plane) and now they're finally here in Surabaya! Yay!!!

Hiro San from Tokyo Belle, moi, Sabsab, Oline and Shasha

So... Actually i've been meeting with Hiro San (one of the owners of Tokyo Belle) for quite a few times already (4-5x?) with Shelley (my talented MUA friend, check out her Instagram! You might want to consider her if you need a good MUA for special events!) , mostly to help him get the idea on what Surabaya consumers are like and things like that, since we're kinda involved from awhile ago, i was very excited when they finally really opened their door for public in Galaxy Mall Surabaya (soft opening was on 27th of July!).

After much brain-storming and confusions (LOL), me along with three other selected beauty bloggers were invited for a little rendezvouz with Tokyo Belle last Saturday.

This gathering was the casual, friendly type where we're going to have a chit chat over drinks about Tokyo Belle and their services. Our meeting point was at their salon in Galaxy Mall :

Tokyo Belle Surabaya only offers two types of services, eyelash extension and IPL hair removal (they also have slimming services in Jakarta) so their salon is quite small and compact. In the first glance, i could see how minimalistic, simple but clean and comfortable this salon is. Totally up my alley since i don't find extra frills that necessary for most treatments haha.

The eyelash extension station, there are two treatment beds (they would meticulously glue individual eyelashes on your actual lashes, it would took up to two hours! So a comfortable bed is a must!). Don't worry, they have a curtain in the middle that can be drawn for privacy-at the same time you can be with your friend if you come together!

Tokyo Belle took pride in the fact that pretty much everything (maybe just the cotton pads aren't hahaha) are from Japan, everything you see in this tray tables are hailed from Japan! The boxes in the second tier are the eyelashes, i didn't take a close up pics but i will be trying out their eyelash extension services so i would do so then!

Hiro San really is quite hilarious, he even showed us this "Our handuk (towels) are also from Japan!" hahaha

After we're finished taking pictures of the salon, we went to a cafe (Bakerzin) for the actual gathering :D.

As soon as our drinks of choices arrived, Hiro San opened the session by introducing us to Tokyo Belle and told us a little about their background.

Then the staff (i completely forgot her name, sorry >.<!) took over and gave explanation in more details about their services. Basically, they have IPL, which is short of Intense Pulse Light, a hair removal technology to remove hair in long term period (people say IPL is a permanent hair removal method, but actually your hair can still grow back mainly if there's any major changes in your hormones-we all know that women are pretty much made from imbalance hormones hahaha-especially pregnancy) without pain and other side effects that other methods of hair removal (like waxing or shaving) may cause.

IPL works to reduce the size of your pores so hair that's growing out of them would also become smaller, thinner and over time-gone. Unlike shaving that might cause irritation (because of the friction between your skin and the shaver), IPL actually can help lighten the treated area instead!

As for eyelash extension, i think it's pretty much self-explanatory? It's an extension, for your eyelashes! LOL. Tokyo Belle uses the best material (from Japan, of course) for their synthetic eyelashes (called mink) that would be glued on your real lashes (with 2mm gap, so the glue and eyelash won't be touching your skin therefor the possibility for any skin reaction is completely minimized) . They have five different types of eyelash extension that i would explain more when i actually try it out.

As for the most frequent question, how much do their services cost? All the prices below are their NORMAL price (take note that they're having some crazy promos during their soft opening, which will end on the 27th August, so i urge y'all to buy their packages now, if you're keen!) :

Every treatments at 50% off! OMG! And the 1 year underarm IPL treatment for IDR 500.000??? That's crazy cheap. If you just want to try out how IPL works and see if they are for you (maybe you're a scaredy person like me hahaha), 1st treatment for underarm is just IDR 50.000! Then if you feel like you can benefit from it (after you prove to yourself that it is indeed, not painful hahahah) then quickly buy their packages! Don't say i didn't warn you ah, 50% off is NO JOKE! Hahaha.

We had a pretty candid and relaxed discussion regarding their services. Hiro San asked why we're not using eyelash extension (because it is the trend in Japan now, pretty much all Japanese women use eyelash extension because they're convenient and looks more natural than falsies but still makes an impact) since we're into makeup and beauty. Thing is, Indonesian are still a bit old fashioned and conventional lah, and we're easily creeped out by urban legends hahaha.

Hiro San assured us that both IPL and eyelash extension are totally safe (feel a bit sad actually that he had to convinced us even this hahaha, we're such chickens!!!). As i've done SHR (before, and still do actually), Hiro San asked me to try out their eyelash extension (hm. I'd love to try out their IPL too though, maybe i can even make a little comparison post?).

I have to be honest, i'm a bit scared (again, lots of horror stories about eyelash extension like how it might burn your eyes, etc etc LOL, but that's why you need to go to a professional beauty salon like Tokyo Belle for a safe and good result instead of some dodgy places just to save a few bucks and jeopardize your own safety!), but i am also very excited and curious! It'd be pretty awesome to wake up with pretty lashes already and i also don't have to spend hours applying mascara like i usually do (you know i hate applying falsies because i am so bad at it!). Eyelash extension in Tokyo Belle can last up to 3 weeks (even a month) if you take a proper care of it.

Tokyo Belle's staff had eyelash extension on and here is my silly cousin L touching it to see how soft and natural they are to the touch, unlike most eyelash extension we know which are quite stiff and (frankly) a bit scary hahaha

L helped me snap a pic from my Iphone while we were busy taking pictures of the price list. I do use camera 360 because i like their lighting and the soft, dreamy effect they have (because i don't need the softening effect okay, i have pretty flawless complexion already #ahem hahaha), but usually i'd use the natural tone, i'm not sure what L changed it into because the results are pretty... I dunno, even more dreamy than usual hahaha.

Me-Nail nail corner is a service they offer for private and public events, you can request the services you want (basic nail polish, gel polish, nail art, etc) and pricelist from them directly (i already linked up their page, you can find the contact number in their page). That day they brought their gel products and also some accessories :

Poor Sabsab could only get a basic manicure because as a young doctor, she's not allowed to have any nail colors on. As Me-Nail didn't bring any regular polish (that she can take off the next day), she had to settle for a mini pampering session-maybe that's why she looked so sullen? LOL

Shasha was the only one who ended up getting gel nail polish on, Oline just had a nail extension by Me-Nail's resident nail artist (Kiki Coroline, of course) a few days earlier so she settled for adding some nail jewels on

As for me, my nails were growing super long, much too long for my comfort (i couldn't even play Disney Tsum Tsum properly! And typing was hard!), my gel nail art started to unravel so i asked for them to take off the gel nail art and cut my nails short. I decided to give my nails (although according to the staffs, my nails are still pretty healthy and strong) a break because i've been having back to back to back gel polish on!
