Hi hi!

I just had a very full but fun day! I don't often have such a jam-packed day, and people say they're jealous of how relaxed my life is, but trust me-i love busy days! I feel less useless on a day like this *LOL*. Anyway, blog post about today (a beauty event followed by a joint bday dinner of two of my friends) will come up soon, let's focus on the topic written on the title for now!

Remember i used to say i never really had much luck with lucky draws and its friends? Well, it seems like my luck in that department has shifted a little bit :p. I win (not much but a little bit's better than never, right?) more and more quizzes and giveaways, which is AWESOME! One of them is Vanity Trove's 7 Days Christmas Giveaway. I was really surprised when i was announced as one of the winners because honestly i didn't even remember entering it *LOL*.

Anyway, my price was IDR 100.000 worth of Vanity tab that i could use to purchase their troves/products. I've been hoarding it for MONTHS because sadly their self-customized trove's items seems to be pretty... sparse (and repetitive. Like, there'd be 5 items from the same brand at one time. And there'd be only three or so brands at one time with all super boring items like face creams *YAWNS*) and i didn't see anything i really wanted to purchase from their online shop as well.

And then about a week ago i read some blogger's unboxing of this special Mozaic Exclusive Trove and it seems pretty nice, so i hurriedly checked their sites and couldn't believe my eyes that this exclusive trove's priced at only IDR 100.000 (their regular trove's IDR 180.000)! I quickly clicked add to my cart (i am ecstatic that i do not have to pay a dime for this box!) and viola, here it is! (Arrived at a speedy time too! I ordered this much latter than the time when i redeemed my Lola Dots for a complimentary box, which still shows no sign of appearing, almost three weeks after they promised to send me the box *LOL*. Lola Box is usually very punctual though so i'm pretty confused...)

The box was heavy, mainly because of that full sized Lux body shower!

First item : Lux Moisturizing Body Wash in Velvet Touch (250 ml)

I actually couldn't use the original Lux body washes anymore, my skin got more sensitive (from age, i guess *___*) somehow and a lot of body wash/shower gel/cream can cause my eczema to act up, muyhunny also cannot use lots of body thingy due to his uber dry skin. But i've been reading rave reviews about this new Lux Body Wash, they apparently bettered their formulation and the result is much milder and moisturizing body washes. I am actually quite excited to try this (without having to purchase it myself) and prove if this new body wash really is much better than their predecessor.

Skin 79 Hot Pink Super+ Triple Functions BB (deluxe size) and 3 sachets of other Skin 79 BB Cream (Super+ Triple Functions BB Vital Cream Orange Label, VIP Gold Collection Super+ BB Cream and The Oriental Gold BB Cream Plus)

As a BB cream junkie, i always love getting BB Cream samples. I am not a fan of sachet samples, but since they gave out a decent deluxe sample (which i really love because they are super convenient for my travels) and the sachets must be bonuses, i don't mind. Skin 79 is one of the nicest BB cream i've ever tried too, so... I have nothing but love for them!

Cottage Softening Shower Gel in Vanilla (50ml)

Seriously, Cottage (and Original Source) tiny bottles are the cutest ever! This is my second travel size Cottage shower gel (both are from beauty boxes) and i am really happy that i got different variants! I love bath and body cares and this tiny bottle will be going on a trip with me!

Dove Anti Perspirant Whitening Deodorant in Original (15 ml)

I wear deodorants whenever i go out so this one is a very useful thing that will definitely get used. I am a fan of Dove products, however for this particular product... I am not overly fond of. I am currently using this deodorant and i hate that it takes FOREVER to dry! But it's still usable even though it's my least favorite item in this box.

Angelwinks falsies in Honey

Gosh it's been so long since the last time i received falsies in beauty boxes! I used to detest getting them (because i never used them before) until one day i decided to try them on and i've been hooked ever since. Having said that, i haven't been wearing any falsies for a very very long time! LOL. I should start practicing again! I've never tried Angelwinks falsies (honestly i almost never bought falsies by myself except once from Sasa when it was on a huge sale and from Daiso/cheapo accessories stores! I built a little collection from past beauty boxes only haha) and am pretty excited about this!

Kiehl's Olive Fruit Oil Nourishing Shampoo (65 ml)

The most branded and (definitely) expensive item in this trove! I love Kiehl even though i haven't actually purchased anything from them (my hunny's insisting on buying their deodorant though, even though i find paying almost IDR 300.000 for a deodorant is a total insanity...) but i have lots of their samples *LOL* *cheapo* and i can safely say i love those products that i've tried the samples on. This size is perfect for traveling! Honestly i fear this shampoo would be too rich for my oily scalp (the nourishing part) but i'm sure it'll work well on hunny!

And that's it! Personally i find this to be a pretty great box, especially for the price (IDR 100.000 or about USD 9!). I paid more in the past for boxes that are not half as good as this one! Everything in this box is really useful and i get to try lots of items that i am interested in!

Hair-O-Logy 01 : Dove Cream Hair Treatment

Hellow y'all :D...

I know i stated before that i don't care much about my hair and don't really do anything to them, but surprisingly... My hair seems to get a lot of attention from our readers somehow. Thank you very much for the compliments scattered on my non-hair related entries (when do i ever have a hair related one anyway? Oh wait, i did once with that L'Occitane's products first impression thingy!), i cannot take credit for my hair though because... They are like that by nature, i didn't do anything to them *except shampoo and i finally am used to condition them daily too! Quite an achievement for someone who never even touched a conditioner for twenty something years out of her thirty!*.

Because my hair caring routine is... well... boring (i use pretty much the same kind of shampoo and conditioners, those cheapo drugstore ones la hahaha. Currently using Pantene and Dove mostly) and very minimal, i don't think there's anything interesting enough to blog about. I do wash my hair everyday because i'd feel very hot and bothered (and therefore would have to shower twice a day, when i usually only shower once a day!) if i don't *my hair is quite very long as you know...* and i also cannot stand the smell of a dirty scalp (the fact that my scalp is impossibly oily also didn't help!) so it's only wise for me to shampoo daily!

I do try to take more care of my hair by using hair treatments and hair oils *mostly thanks to those samples i got from beauty boxes that i-as a self proclaimed kiasu-obviously cannot let go to waste* more lately. After all, i am an old lady (in the ancient times i'm old enough to have grandkids FML) already, and my hair's also not getting any younger obviously *LOL*. As i ventured to new territories of trying out different hair care products, i am tempted to talk more about (and review) hair matters.

I still don't feel the urge to talk about my daily shampoo/conditioner (coz again, they are oh-so-boring zzzz), but whenever i'm trying out new hair stuffs that i've never used before, i will review it. For now i am reviewing this Dove Cream Hair Treatment :

The reason why i didn't post a pretty, professional looking picture i usually got from Google was because i couldn't seem to find any! I think maybe this is an old packaging and they already either renew the packaging or even discontinue them already *LOL*. Either way i'm still reviewing it because it would at least help to know how most of Dove's hair treatment works on general, in case anyone's interested in trying them out but unsure of their quality.

I didn't buy this product myself, a relative (an aunt, but not closely related) left it in our Jakarta apartment, it was pretty much new so my mum asked me if i want to use it *otherwise she'd chuck it in the bin*, and me... Well, knowing me of course i said yes. Why throw a perfectly good product away? It's a hair treatment, not like i can contact a disease if i used some relative's used hair treatment (wait... can i???) right...

As you can see from the first picture, it was dominated by Chinese characters. That's why i ROFL-ed when my mum was like "It must be pretty expensive, that aunt brought it all the way from USA/Holland (i forgot which one! That aunt lives in one of those two very different countries, came to Indonesia for a holiday once in a while)!". First of all, it's DOVE. How expensive can Dove possibly be? A perfect example of how brand/origin-minded my mum is. If it's imported then it must be great. Second of all, everything was in Chinese characters, how can it be from USA/Holland??? Haiiiihhh mummy!

Upon closer inspection, it was clearly made in Taiwan and bought in Singapore laaa. Pffffttt. The packaging reminds me of Dove's original, old packaging before they came with lots of different variants and modernized it. Looking at that picture *i've used it up quite sometime ago* is very nostalgic. I think their old packaging's more elegant and embodies their trademark than their current ones.

It came with a simple flip top squeeze tube. I ransacked Google trying to find any picture of this thing, but the closest i got was their conditioners (that also comes with this type of tube). I am quite convinced by now that this type's discontinued? I guess they stopped making a humble, cream hair treatment and now come out with more variants of hair cares including conditioners, masks, serum, etc? If anyone knows if this is a discontinued product or something that's still on the shelves somewhere, please let me know. The curiousity is killing me :p.

Even though they called this CREAM hair treatment, i didn't find it at all creamy *LOL*. It's light, translucent (didn't photograph well there) and more gelly than creamy. It has a light, soft scent, quite pleasant but reminds me of an old lady somehow, and with the usual hint of Dove's signature smell. This is the kind of treatment that you wash off afterward-and still need to continue with conditioner afterward-so even if the soft (old lady) smell doesn't suit your preference, i don't think it'll linger at all therefore shouldn't offend any nose hehe.

I used quite a generous amount of them and applied them on the length of my hair and leave it for five minutes before rinsing them. It has a softening effect like my usual conditioner, but not nearly as much. My hair didn't instantly became soft and tangle free like how an after conditioner hair is, obviously since like i said before-a conditioner is still needed to follow this step-so it can feel a bit stringy (because i am used to a very soft and smooth result conditioners gave) before you use any conditioner.

I always followed this hair treatment with a Pantene leave in treatment after towel-drying my hair (because i didn't want to wait around for another 5 minutes with the usual conditioners that needs to be rinsed afterward!).

Result from using a whole tube of this cream treatment (and cannot leave out that Pantene leave in treatment as well of course, since i always used them together) is more satisfying than i expected! My hair feels a lot thicker, healthier and not as limp as they usually are!

Since this particular cream hair treatment seems to no longer be around, i cannot possibly recommend it, can i? But if it still happens to be around, i'd very much recommend this thing for people with long, fine, limp and lifeless hairs like me. It's also very good to treat hair that's been through some tortures (in my case, being colored regularly and blow dried daily) but not in a very sad condition (because my hair's quite healthy to begin with so i cannot comment on how it'd perform on a badly damaged hair). Nothing i dislike from this product, so if they are still available i'd surely purchase them! In the meanwhile i'm gonna stick to the newer-readily available Dove hair care range, they are pretty awesome as a whole...

Btw, do you like how i call my hair related reviews now? Hehe...

Review : Dove Body Silk Moisturizing Cream

Still a filler "scheduled" post hehe!

It’s another review time! Yes, another body lotion-type of thingy, I’m boring I know. I just love love love body lotions and constantly changing them (bad habit), I use different ones every single time I ran out of my current body lotions, and nowadays not only I wear body lotions religiously (once or twice a day, depending on how many times I shower in one day. Am I disgusting? Whatever. Mostly I only shower once a day, as long as I’m not sweating or whatever :p) but I also put them on my hunny.

I’ve told you before that my hunny’s skin’s super sad one, dry, flaky, cracky… totally horrible. And he used to refuse to let me put on lotions on him even though it’s already super dry and quite irritated, I guess he thought it was a girly thing and all *men and their stupid pride* until one day a close friend of mine commented on his scarily dry skin, telling him to put on some lotion before it’s too late. And then he relented and let me slather him in lotions whenever I remember to (seriously, sometimes I’m pretty good and remember to put it on him every day, but most of the time a week would pass without me remembering to do so once, usually whenever I’m sick, which is often, LOL).

Let me rant a bit before we go down to business, please?? It just annoys me how hunny refused to listen to me whenever I tried telling him something but once someone else pointed it out to him he’d follow through at once. WTF. I think #Undecided has the same problem with her hubby. Are all men like that? (Hoh, tempted to start singing Kim Jong Kook Oppa’s latest single, Men Are All Like That. Sorry, currently obsessed with him, feel the need to mention him whenever possible) This is also not a one time incident, told him to use hair tonic since his hair seems to be thinning, but he never even listened to me once. Until #Undecided lectured him to. Now he does. WTF.

Anyway, rant ended (satisfied). Not it’s time to get down to business. The product I’m going to review right now is a drug store one, nothing frilly or too exciting :p, a classic : Dove Body Silk Moisturizing Cream.

As usual i posted a nice picture i found from Google first before showing you the crappy picture I got *LOL*

I like the name and the fact that it is formulated with pure silk, who doesn’t want to have a skin as smooth and soft as silk, right? LOL. It comes with a simple tube containing 200ml of cream. This might be a problem with germ-phobes out there (I just realized there are so many people with germ phobia, lots of bloggers are germ-phobes, yes?) since you have to dip you fingers into the tub to get the cream, I don’t have any problem with this (yes, I’m disgusting, told you before. But I’m very fussy about my surroundings, I hate hotel rooms and all. LOL).

Dove’s very famous for its moisturizing powers right? I love Dove in general. I used to only use Dove facial wash when I was younger, like religiously. But one day it suddenly stopped working for me, I developed white heads (lots of it) and stuffs. I guess your skin can really get too used to one product that it stops working for you, eh? Nowadays I almost never use the same thing twice in a row (after finishing it okay), I might re-purchase after trying out like, 10 different products, more excuse to try on lots of products *gleeful*. I think I used this body silk once before, many many many years ago, but as usual I got sidetracked by other brands and varieties.

It’s called Body Cream but for me personally it’s lighter than other body creams that I’ve used, usually when a product’s categorized as Body Cream then its consistency would be thicker than body lotions (in my experience) but this Dove one is actually very light and fluffy. Not as light as mousse types, but more like soufflé.

Once you spread them on your skin it’d almost immediately absorbed into your skin (I have a normal skin so it’s usually takes more time for body products to get absorbed into my skin, like polar opposite of my hunny’s super thirsty and parched skin which would swallow up almost all kinds of body products), leaving it soft and supple. No greasy residue (I HATE greasy residue! I love to sit on the floor so any products that would leave my floor sticky is not my favorite, this one definitely doesn’t leave anything sticky).

It doesn’t have any perfumed smell or whatever, which is a downer for me because I love my body products to smell yummy, in fact I don’t really like the smell of this body silk. I don’t even know how to describe it, but it’s kinda er… moldy in my opinion LOLOL. But then again I think almost all classic Dove products has the same smell (they are recently came up with yummy smelling shower creams! So excited! Yes, I’ve purchased them :p), so y’all probably knows what I’m talking about, right?

200ml is quite a bit actually, and if I were to use this on my own I think it’d lasts me awhile (at least for a month), but since I’m sharing it with hunny (which has long limbs and legs since he’s 1.79M tall) and his horrible skin, it ran out FTL. LOL. I had to use super a lot on his skin since this body silk is very light and easily absorbed, it was almost like a a race because as soon as I finished one arm and went to the next, the first arm would be dried already LOL. So in my opinion this body silk is not suitable for people with very dry skin. His skin looked okay when we used this body silk but not like, super moist (which is achievable, his skin’s in a pretty good condition right now, yay!). It works well for me though.

And the dry palm test (my palms are very sensitive, if I used body lotions/creams that aren’t very moisturizing my palm would be very dry and weird-feeling so I’d have to use a hand cream), it passed. No weird, dry feeling on my hands even without using a separate hand cream. And my eczema also didn’t play up using this.

All in all, a pretty good product. Recommended for people who isn’t into frilly body cares, has a normal skin, doesn’t like perfume smells on their products. Not recommended for people with very dry skin and who has sensitive nose (like me) and love their body cares to smell yummy.

Would I purchase this again? Probably not. I prefer yummy ones and this doesn’t work wonder on hunny :p.
