La Fleur X Uniqorn Cafe - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

12:48:00 AM

Hi guys...

How y'all doin'?

I'm trying to be productive and keep myself from overthinking and over worrying (with my city being in a semi lock down condition, business people like us basically are having zero income while still having to pay tonnes of bill. We also didn't expect this to happen because normally March is the start of high season in business locally so we were preparing for it, meaning be spent a LOT in preparation and now we have to pay the bills in a very different condition than expected. Ofc i have emergency funds, and the fact that we never had to use it in the past meaning i have enough to keep up afloat until things get better, but never having to use it before also means i find it even harder that we have to dig deep and watch our fund disappearing..) so i've been busying myself all day long.

I still cannot concentrate enough to do work-related posts, not even like light hearted reviews of tutorial (i am being active in this aspect on my Instagram though because i've made a commitment to myself to upload at least once a day there) so i am sticking to easy, escapee type of posts : travels.

This time i am walking backwards even further in time because i actually am about to share with you about this uber kawaii cafe in Kuala Lumpur that i went to in late 2018 hehe.
La Fleur X Uniqorn Cafe
I really had a great time there, but before i blogged about it the owners of the cafe went into a full blown online war with a Malaysia acquaintance of mine, it was really bad - and i was quite shocked because when we were there i think we were also attended by the owners but their service was very good and they were very very friendly, that's why the online war was double as shocking for me. As it got pretty big and usually *LOL* thematic cafes like this don't usually last that long anyway, i was not even sure if they are still open :)). But i checked and apparently they are still in business (again, probably temporarily closed due to Covid 19, but they are not out of business so i think you can still visit it in the future) and these pics i have of this place is just too cute to waste!

Yes, there is a teepee where you can take pics at the outdoor area, but the outdoor area is actually inside the building as the cafe is located inside a huge shopping mall called Geo Avenue. The mall is actually mainly consisted of cafes and eateries (also a supermarket) and it is located pretty far from central KL (it is located at Sunway, which is not even KL anymore i think - do correct me if i'm wrong, i'm really bad at Geography although i graduated cum laude in Tourism *LOL*) so if you are staying in central KL and want to visit this cafe, i would actually suggest you to bring a few clothes so you can change - you should visit a few of these cafes in the mall at one go. That's what i would do if i knew where exactly the cafe is located and how the situation of the place is beforehand
Another plus side of this cafe is that they actually provide unicorn onesies and slippers for FREE. Most thematic cafes would charge you rent and yes, the onesies are in dire need of being washed - but so is the condition of the ones you have to pay for (unless it's in Japan or South Korea i guess *LOL*), trust me i went to enough thematic cafes to witness it. So personally i think it's a huge plus that they provide the costumes for free!
The cafe itself is pretty big, it's totally spacious and cozy.
Ofc, the interior's all pink. Very soft pink though, so the atmosphere is still the luxe type of kawaii (compared to the unicorn cafe in Bangkok, it's like night and day *LOL*)
You order at the cashier, there is no minimum charge. You can order whatever you want and stay as long as you want, take as many pictures as you want - at least that's our experience there. The menu's very very affordable too
There are plenty of tables all the way to the back and sides, unfortunately the area in the back was packed so we couldn't take picture there but there are quite a lot of Instagrammable spots in this care. There are also a lot of unicorn plushies you can take pictures with and move around, but like the costumes, they are in dire need to be deep cleaned *LOL*.
I think we went during day time on a week day so even though there are some groups and couple there, it was far from crowded and we can take pictures quite easily
Some spots at the back, really looks like a baby girl's nursery yes haha
The decor of the cafe is actually quite minimalistic although still very cute. They go for clean, super soft, super pastel colors and i really approve of it haha
Another cool spot (although by now i think there are way too many cafes who installed the same thing haha) for you to take pictures at is this ball pit area at the front of the cafe.
The plastic balls are baby pink, white and clear - that makes it stand apart than most cafes' ball pits that usually have super bright, neon colored balls!
I was genuinely that happy to be there ^^

Also, in other cafes in Malaysia the staffs usually stare and ogle when we take pictures, it made us very self-conscious and stressed *LOL*, in fact we went to another cafe just before this one and they did exactly that. Some of the staffs also managed to find out IG, which is scary *LOL*. But not here, most people who come here comes for one purpose : take pictures, i guess the owners and staffs are used to any antics of people taking pics, and every other guests were taking pictures too so i felt pretty comfortable and welcomed camwhoring and posing
The details in this cafe is totally lovely
There is even a shrine for all things pastel and kawaii *LOL*.
My kind of shrine
These type of unicorn dolls are my favorite doll type, a year later hunny bought me a smaller one also in Malaysia (at Bukit Bendera's souvenir shop *LOL*, it was not expensive. I sleep with it every night now, it helps me feel loved and protected. I totally want another one soon)
My bangs were cut too short before this trip, and in real time my bangs are as long as my chin and i really itch to cut it (even though i might never go back to front bangs as i am very comfortable with side bangs now)
Seriously, i totally approve of whoever decorate the place
As i mentioned earlier, our sole purpose of visiting this cafe is to take photos, but we also wanted to order something cute (again, for the 'Gram). We just had a meal plus a dessert in another cafe so we're actually very full so we only ordered hot drinks (i went for coffee ofc. I think i remember it being decent) and one cake to split. There were some uber kawaii cakes available but we decided to go for the kawaii-est of them all :
A unicorn shaped one!
Honestly, my least fave type of cakes are the fruit flavored/filling ones and this one is exactly that *LOL*. It's sweet and sour, totally not my slice of cake - and neither Angel's i guess. We only managed a few bites between us and left about half untouched, and it's such a small cake too! I'm not saying it tastes bad, i just really don't like fruit filled cakes >.<, you know i hardly ever eat a full slice of cakes that i like in one go! They have other menus too, we were just not interested because we were full so i really cannot be a judge for the taste of their food. Their hot drinks are pretty good too, for the price and the fact that they let you stay as long as you want and take as many pics as you can, it's more than totally worth it for me.

Would i return? I actually would, i wouldn't eat beforehand (please note that most of these Instagrammable cafes in KL seems to open pretty late in the afternoon, so you might want to have a light breakfast first) and i would spend half a day in the area to visit a few cafes in the area.
Ofc we had to wear the onesies
No one to take our pics so selfie it is
Never mind us, just a pair of grown women losing our minds.
I would still be this kawaii when i'm a grandma. Mark my words.
It was such an afternoon well spent and for me, it was worth all the hassle going there (the pretty expensive Grab because we basically went out of town, then we got lost because i thought the cafe was located in Sunway Pyramid, IT'S NOT WTH. So we had to take another Grab to go to the right place so if you plan to visit please note that you need to go to Sunway GEO Avenue okay!!!), it's a little thing but it makes me happy - and that's what's important in life, right?
People wanna gossip behind my back about me, my style, my weight, my aesthetic, my life? I no longer give them the power to bother me. I severed a friendship once not so long ago when i found out that she did exactly that, and whoever wants to follow her foot steps would just be trashed from my life like her, in short - i don't give a damn. Especially now that i know how easy life crumbles and how important most things that we thought were really are. Imma just live my life even freer now because all i care about is being happy and contend.
I will blog about the other Unicorn Cafe in Bangkok sometime in the future too, if you enjoyed this one then i'm sure you would enjoy that one too!
