Unicorn Cafe - Bangkok, Thailand

Hi guys...

So i've been having some anxieties the past few days and i decided to try out a teraphy that usually works well to calm me down : to blog about something that makes me truly happy and feel like i'm transported to happier times : travel. I know i haven't been updating about my super backdated trips, but i couldn't think of a better time to do it than when i truly miss it and need it like right now. I've been sad too about not knowing when we can travel again (technically we can, i can go to Bali or even Turkey, but i just don't feel safe to do so and i don't want to risk it) so here's a cafe recommendation for y'all kawaii lovers for the next moment we can step out of the country safely.

Honestly, the only thing that made me excited about our trip last year to Thailand was this cafe *LOL*. I went to Thailand (only Bangkok and Pattaya though) way too many times when i was younger and honestly i was quite bored of the touristy places (back then independent trips were still something foreign for me and since i was with my school/family, i relied on them for the itinerary, and when you take tour packages, they tend to bring you to the same place over and over again, those tourist traps) and their fashion was not to my liking (somehow their fashion now is right down my alley *LOL*. It's so weird, i dunno if they become suddenly fashionable in the past 10 years (okay, 10 years is not sudden, but the change is so dramatic IMO) or my taste changes. No, i don't think it's the latter. I still have some clothes i bought there 15 years ago or something (true story) and it's definitely a far cry from what they have in the market now.

Basically, i wasn't too interested in returning to Thailand except to shop and because i was OBSESSED with this Unicorn Cafe - ofc then we had quite an adventure, visiting places i've never been and discovering things we'd never know about if we have no local "tour guide" (who lets us crash in her place *LOL*, best tour guide ever. Shout out to my babe Bo) and now i would kill to return to Thailand (preferably to some other cities like Chiang Mai tho). Life and travels just got so much easier thanks to the internet, and then completely ruined by Covid 19. The Circle of Life i guess.

And with that long ass intro, i just wanted to tell you. I was dying to come to this cafe because i LOVE unicorn and i love quirky cafes okay.

Btw, disclaimer first : most of the pics used in this blog post were taken by Olin, while i improved my photography skill during quarantine, this took place before the nightmare begins and i still suck at taking f&b pics anyway (and like ambience of the cafe etc. Don't think i have the eyes for that).

Anyway, the Unicorn Cafe was actually nearby Bo's place and it took us only a short taxi ride to get there. Much to my surprise, there are actually TWO of them (same company, i guess they got so popular on IG and decided to open another one to accommodate all the crazy tourists like moi).

Now, let me clarify something first. Olin's camera's really nice and she knows how to set it right too so somehow all of the pics turned out super pretty and dreamy. The real place? Er.. It's not as pretty as it looks in photographs. I honestly expected it to be more like those Japanese/Taiwanese dreamy thematic cafes but in reality... It's Thailand. No offence, but Thailand is still a lot more similar to Indonesia than Japan/Taiwan so i don't know why i had such a high expectations *LOL*. Reality is the place is not very pastel at all but very loud and almost neon colored. I took some photos of the place with my sucky pocket camera and it shows the sad reality hahaha but you know, you come to this place to take pics and with today's phone cameras and digital camera, achieving this kind of pics is not impossible so why taint the beauty of this blog post by showing the reality *LOL*.

Don't worry, i wasn't disappointed. I was still super happy to be there and i found the place to be super cute (although tacky. Seriously, this cafe is like how i feel about Thai actors too *LOL*. Some of you who comes from my IG would know that i'm quite obsessed with Thai actors lately, there are so many handsome ones and their visual's comparable to Korean actors but manlier. Because of their looks, i tend to forget that Thailamd is Thailand, and sometimes i get a bit of a shock when i see the background or location because it yanked me back to reality *LOL*. Looks too similar to where i am living, not glossy like how K-Dramas are) and totally worth a visit.

Ofc like all other thematic cafes, there are plenty of plushies strewn around for you to take pics with

And like most thematic cafes, they are quite dirty and dusty *LOL*. It was pre-Covid so nobody hesitate to hug and pose with them anyway, we can always wash our hands and shower afterwards right... Not so easy these days ofc *LOL*.

In case you don't know yet, when i plan to go to thematic cafes, i dress accordingly :p. You'd never finf me not matching the place fo sho

Yeah they sell a lot of (overpriced) unicorn stuffs to, i personally would skip them and purchase them at a much better price at markets/mall :p

I took the time to photograph the whole menu book for ya, ofc it's been over a year so they might take off/add some items or justify the prices, but i think this would still be plenty helpful for those of you planning to visit in the future.

The must order is ofc the kawaii drinks! One thing that i love about Thai cafes, they don't have minimum orders and even the thematic cafes are damn affordable

For the sweet tooth. These are stuffs that i'm never interested in tho *LOL*.

I don't know about you but the colorful cheese over the karage scares the beejesus out of me :p

And i also dunno if it's a cultural thing, but the strawberry salad is just... wrong *LOL*

They do have a LOT on their menu, i honestly would never expect steak menus in a thematic cafes like this. Also not something that i would order anyway, i have trust issues with thematic cafes' food :p. Even the Japanese ones okay

I think this was Bo's order. It's the kind of drink that's the best for picture taking in this place but personally i could never drink *LOL*. If i came with my husband i might order it because then i can make him drink 80% of it, but i wasn't and i know i could not take more than a few sips of the drink so why not borrow it from someone who already ordered it haha

Hot cocoa. It was swelteringly hot that day, just looking at it makes me sweat :p

Now, this is my order. When it's crazy hot, i tend to go for something sour and sometimes soda (although i normally don't drink soda. I probably drink soda like, 10 times a year. Mostly when i'm at McD haha

We also ordered a cake to share. It was... edible *LOL*

The cupcakes were cute but we couldn't even finish a slice of cake between the 3 of us so not ordering the cupcake was a wise decision hahaha

Like i said, i was super happy to be there, i ticked it off my list and i get so many cute pics. Would i return? I'd say it's a place where you only need to come once if you're a tourist (if i'm a local, i wouldn't mind returning because they let you take as many pics as you want, there are a lot of cute spots, the staffs leave you alone, the prices' reasonable, there are a lot menus to choose from and they also don't mind if you only order drinks! Those are all the criterias that i look for in a cafe especially as a content creator!) as there are plenty of other cute, unique and Instagrammable cafes in Bangkok. But would i recommend you to come here? If you love unicorn, kawaii-ness and pastel colors the answer is a hard yes. But if you're looking for extraordinary menus and mind blowing taste, obviously you're reading the wrong blog post *LOL*.

I always feel so happy and accomplished after finishing a travel post *LOL*, i wish they are not such a pain to prep though (i have prepping the pics because i use a LOT of pics and i HAVE to have them in the right order because i am a story teller, and well - an OCD as well...). One Brand Review : Scarlett Whitening (Body Care)

Mo nanya, kalian kalau sering mantengin Instagram pasti sering banget liat review dan rekomendasi produk-produk Scarlett Whitening bersliweran ngga sih? Aku sih iya banget sampe penasaran pwol karena produk-produknya kedengerannya bagus-bagus banget, dan yang paling sering denger itu wanginya enak banget! Nah akhirnya aku udah nyobain sendiri nih tiga produk dari Scarlett Whitening, udah hampir tiga minggu aku pake dan... EMANG SEBAGUS ITU WOI. Sorry ngga santai, soalnya emang aku sukaaaa ^^! Tiga-tiganya ga ada yang fail serius T.T. Nanti kita bahas satu-satu dengan lebih detail ya!

Btw kalian kalo belanja bath and body care (atau shampoo, pokoknya yang liquid-liquid dan gede-gede) gitu suka kuatir ngga, takut produknya pecah atau bocor di jalan? Aku sering ngalamin lho kzl banget, tapi paket Scarlett Whitening ini pas datang aman banget, di wrap pake bubble wrap tebal ngga ada yang bocor sama sekali apalagi pecah, aman sentosa deh pokoknya :D.

Semua kemasan produk Scarlett Whitening yang aku punya itu terbuat dari plastik high quality yang durable tapi ringan, jadi kalo mau dibawa-bawa pas traveling juga aman. Lotionnya juga ada safety locknya jadi meskipun dimasukin travel bag/koper bakalan tetap aman (jadi ngga ada alesan ngga pake lotion kalo pas traveling karena takut lotionnya tumpah yah!).

First, let's talk about the scrub!

Scarlett Body Scrub Romansa

Dengan kandungan Glutathione dan Vitamin E yang udah terkenal banget manfaatnya untuk mencerahkan, melembapkan dan menutrisi kulit. Oya, yang mengandung Clutathione dan Vit E ngga cuma scrubnya yah tapi juga shower scrub dan body lotionnya

Scrubnya Scarlett ini cara pakenya yang dry, lebih ke arah kayak lulur gitu tipenya. Jadi makenya pada saat tubuh dalam keadaan kering gitu, di aplikasikan dulu keseluruh tubuh (kalo aku terutama di area-area lipatan yang sering kelupaan di urus bikin daki menumpuk >.< juga di area-area yang warnanya agak menggelap) terus di tunggu 2-3 menit baru di gosok perlahan, terakhir bilas dan mandi seperti biasa.

Scrubnya texturenya krim kental tapi ringan (semoga aku ngga bikin kalian bingung hahaha. Dia ngga berat kayak lulur/scrub pada umumnya tapi dia kentel as in ngga runny sama sekali) dan ada butiran halus yang sama sekali ngga sakit saat di apply tapi tetap efektif kok untung mengangkat sel kulit mati dan kotoran yang menumpuk pada kulit

Jadi karena produk-produk Scarlett ini terkenal banget karena wanginya, hal pertama yang aku cek pas produknya datang jelas adalah wanginya ya hehe. Scrubnya ini wanginya beneran semerbak lho, baru d buka tutupnya aja udah kecium wangi manis tapi engga cloying gitu, asli aku suka banget sama wanginya ^^!

Jujur aku aslinya lumayan pemalas pake scrub-scrub gitu, tapi aku sadar belakangan kulit aku (meskipun aku fair skinned banget apalagi sejak dirumah aja tambah pucet deh) ada yang menggelap dan belang-belang gitu di bagian-bagian lipatan, abis sadar baru panic dan sadar harus rajin pake scrub juga >.< lebih baik telat daripada engga kan. Scrub Romansa ini efektif banget sih menurut aku, kulit langsung jadi super lembut dan makin cerah setelah pemakaian - karena hasilnya emang oke banget dan aku addicted sama wanginya, aku jadi rajin pake scrub sekarang hehehe.

One thing to note, saat di bilas Body Scrubnya akan jadi milky gitu dan terasa licin-licin, butuh waktu membilas agak lama untuk membersihkan scrubnya jadi harus sabar ya hehe, aku sering ga sabaran dan merasa udah bilas lama ternyata keluar-keluar masih banyak scrub yang nempel >.<.

Scarlett Brightening Shower Scrub (Pomegrante)

Scarlett Brightening Shower Scrub ini adalah sabun mandi cair yang ada buliran scrubnya, buliran scrub ini akan membantu untuk membersihkan tubuh secara maksimal.

Shower scrub Pomegrante ini warnanya ungu muda cantik banget trus ada buliran berwarna biru dan merah

Aku juga suka banget pake Shower Scrub ini dan ngga juga cuma aku tapi hubby juga :)), makanya cepet banget abis OMG harus segera repurchase. Jadi kulitku sama hubby tu sama-sama reseh kalo urusan shower gel, kulitku sensitive sama detergent jadi harus pake sabun mandi yang mild dan gentle kalo ngga bisa kumat eczema dan allergy ku. Kulit hubby kering banget, dehidrasi dan bisa makin kering kalo salah pake sabun mandi jadi aku tuh hati-hati banget kalo milih sabun mandi karena ngga banyak sabun yang cocok untuk kita berdua. Nah Shower Scrub nya Scarlett ini gentle banget dan aman buat kulit kita berdua jadi gimana mau ngga cinta ya kan?

Oya, meskipun namanya Shower Scrub, tapi produk ini bisa di pakai setiap hari kok karena buliran scrubnya sangat gentle dan halus jadi engga aggravating kulit sama sekali. Di hidung aku wanginya mengingatkan aku sama odol anak kecil yang seger-seger manis gitu ga tau kenapa, buat aku wanginya cute banget and bikin aku semangat untuk mandi hehehe. Shower Scrubnya se gentle itu jadi abis mandi kulit engga terasa kering atau ketarik, tapi tetap harus pake :

Scarlett Fragrance Brightening Body Lotion (Freshy)

Beda sama scrub, aku emang addict banget sama body lotion. Buat aku pake body lotion itu wajib banget, tiap selesai mandi HARUS pake body lotion no matter what, jadi aku lumayan shocked kalo denger ada orang yang ngga pernah pake body lotion hehe. Nah untuk body lotion aku juga lumayan rewel karena ngga suka yang terlalu greasy tapi juga lotionnya harus tetap mampu melembapkan secara maksimal, terus aku juga rewel sama wanginya - dan Body Lotionnya Scarlett ticks all my boxes donk!

Texture body lotionnya creamy dan konsistensinya pas banget, ngga cair tapi juga ngga super kental. Gampang dibaurkan dan meresap dalam kulit, bikin kulit deeply hydrated dan lembap seharian tapi ga lengket atau greasy. Ideal banget deh pokoknya. Dan wanginya itu lho, baru kali ini aku nemu body lotion yang harganya engga bikin kantong bolong tapi wanginya super mahal. Untuk varian Freshy ini wanginya kayak wangi parfum cult Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia eau de cologne yang harganya amit-amit hehehe. Udah gitu wanginya ini long lasting banget, aku cinta banget serius sama body lotionnya Scarlett ini OMG, it works so well and keep me smelling super lovely and expensive all day long!

No picture hoax ya, jadi aku mau nunjukin gimana pemakaian ketiga produk ini dalam 3 minggu udah memberikan improvement buat kulit aku :

Mata kaki aku tuh sangat neglected, waktu pake body lotion pun aku suka lupa makein sampe ksana jadi warnanya tuh jadi gelap banget dan super dry juga. Setelah pakai Scarlett, kalian bisa lihat sendiri warnanya udah memudar banget sampe udah hampir sama dengan the rest of my skin!

Kulit tangan juga keliatan banget kan makin cerah dan halus :), mantap banget hasilnya deh!

Kalian tau lah ya kalo aku raving dan muj-muji gini berarti aku emang suka banget sama produknya hehe, tidak ada kepalsuan diantara kita okay. Kalian juga ngga perlu kuatir untuk keamanan yah karena semua produk Scarlett Whitening udah teristrasi di BPOM (kapan aku pernah rekomenin produk yang ngga aman ke kalian ya kan!), juga crueltry free karena not tested on animals.

Hallooo hallooo gaissss, i'm back again aren't you impressed :D.

Dari namanya aja udah keliatan ya kalo seri ini focusnya untuk menghaluskan rambut gitu. Awal-awalnya aku sedikit kuatir kalo produk-produknya (terutama shampoo nya) bakalan bikin rambut aku lepek karena kulit kepala aku oily banget dan ngga semua shampoo bisa aku pake. Tapi ternyata aku cocok banget sama produk-produknya Biolage sihh, mereka bikin rambut aku makin halus dan mudah ditata tanpa bikin lepek dan kulit kepala makin oily ^^ makanya aku luv banget!

Texture shampoonya cukup creamy tapi ngga terlalu berbusa, wanginya khas wangi shampoo yang luxe, kayak wangi shampoo yang di pake di salon-salon mahal if you know what i mean (ya mungkin emang pake Biolage sih salonnya haha), terus dia gentle banget di rambut ga aggresive bikin rambut jadi stringy gitu tapi mampu membersihkan kulit kepala dengan baik, Abis keramas pake Biolage Smoothing Shampoo ini kepala terasa ringan dan fresh banget, ga semua shampoo bisa bikin kepala aku terasa ringan kayak gini okay! Aku sampe ga rela hubby ikutan pake shampooku ini, nanti cepet abis :)).

Biolage SmoothProof Smoothing Masque

Ini 490g btw, jumbo banget ga abis-abis deh haha

Seperti shampoonya, Smoothing Masque ini key ingredientnya adalah Serum Kamelia dari biji bunga Kamelia yang terkenal akan Asam Lemak, Antioksidan dan Vitamin E untuk merawat rambut.

Pake masker rambut tuh sebenernya penting lho, apalagi kalo rambut kalian rusak atau sering di pakein alat-alat dan produk rambut gitu, perlu banget di beri nutrisi dengan pake masker at least seminggu sekali. Masker Biolage ini efektif banget untuk menyehatkan hair ends aku yang lumayan rusak (aku sering bleach hair ends, trus tiap kali keramas pasti aku keringin pake hair dryer juga). Masker ini bikin rambut aku lembut, gampang di atur tapi ngga lepek. Banyak masker rambut yang bikin rambut aku super lepek and ga bisa di apa-apain, limp gitu - tapi masker yang satu ini engga. Bahkan kalo pake ini dengan shampoo nya, rambut aku jadi lebih bervolume dan jatuhnya jadi tambah bagus.

Cara pake Deep Smoothing Serum ini gampang banget, cukup tuangkan beberapa tetes pada telapak tangan (jangan kebanyakan ya), texturenya ringan dan runny kayak air gitu - nah terus oleskan secara merata pada batang hingga ujung rambut (kalo pake serum jangan kena kulit kepala yaaa, sama kayak kalo pake conditioner). Aku suka banget sih Serum ini, dia juga ngga bikin rambut lepek kok, abis di aplikasikan juga ngga ada sisa-sisa greasy di tangan.
