My Hemorrhoid Journey

After disappearing for quite a while, i am back with a little more unusual post : kali ini health related ya (as you can already read from the title)... Imma talk about... Hemorrhoids, or in a more embarassing word (ga tau kenapa aku merasa Indonesian namenya tuh jauh lebih memalukan T.T...) - ambeien. Ini gak penting tapi aku tetep mau bahas (karena aku emang agak random tapi bukan pick-me-girl, please) : jadi bukannya aku jelek-jelekin bahasa Indonesia ya tapi somehow nama Ambeien itu emang relasinya jelek banget T.T.. Mungkin karena aku kebanyakan nonton iklan obat ambeien local yang gitu banget >.<... Tapi ada juga lo nama penyakit yang menurutku lebih jelek aja nama Inggrisnya dari pada nama Indonesia nya, one of it is gout, kedengeran lebih jorok aja daripada asam urat? Wakakakaka... asli ga penting anyway....
LOL, actually i've known that i have hemorrhoids for a while now, maybe for 15 years even haha karena aku udah discover the bulge since i gave birth to my son (who's now 15, go figure) TAPI karena selama berbelas-belas tahun dia ngga ganggu (atau aku yang gak sadar, tapi ini kayaknya ngga mungkin seh) jadi aku ngga pay attention to it until suddenly one day...

It was pretty sudden, but imma blame everything on aging. Meskipun aku belum kepala 4, tapi asli sih menginjak akhir 30an itu kayak makin banyak penyakit aneh-aneh yang muncul sedih kali gaes. Sudahlah aku mendadak allergy an (padahal for the previous 30+ years of my life tu aku ga ada allergy makanan apapun loh, aku cuma allergy debu doank!) yang ngga terlalu jelas triggernya apa aja (i have my suspicions tapi i'm too lazy to get myself checked karena allergy nya lebih ke aesthetic aja so i just need to be more diligent in avoiding the triggering food because i don't think there's anything else that i can do about it anyway) sekarang i also have to deal with painful hemorrhoids!
Nah awalnya hemorrhoids ini mulai mengganggu aku tuh pas aku sadar kalau aku sembelit dan susah ee (padahal aku tipe yang lancar jaya ya guys, my bowel movement's very regular dan gampang di pancing juga pake vitamin C sama kopi!) tiba-tiba toilet bowl itu bisa full darah segar gitu lo, bener-bener horror sumpah. Pertama kali aku liat dan sadar, aku sampe melongo beberap menit (it happened at a CGV toilet btw, saking traumanya aku sampe inget meskipun aku engga inget itu abis/mau nonton apaan sih). Nah awal-awal mulai berdarah itu, meskipun serem tapi belum sakit cuma aku uda takut banget kan terus aku cerita ke #Undecided, waktu itu aku uda oiler ya jadi aku tanya dia aku mesti pake oil apa? The answer was Cypress, nah aku tu belum punya Cypress (abis gitu di kasih sample sama #Undecided) tapi sebelum sempat ambil Cypress kerumah #Undecided, aku sempat pake Peppermint juga buat emergency - gak recommended kalo ngga terpaksa banget karena Peppermint tu bikin kering terus jadi gatelll luar biasa >.<... So better stick to Cypress ya, it works better too.
Karena emang ga sakit, aku tuh masih kayak biasa gitu yang penting bisa nyetop darahnya... Tapi ternyata meskipun udah stop berdarah tapi itu tuh belum sembuh... Terus masih belum sembuh, aku makan makanan yang paling parah triggering hemorrhoids ku (waktu itu belum sadar ya kalo ini triggering) : ayam MCSpicy. Wuih, suatu malem aku kebangun karena my asshole hurts like hell :)))). I could laugh now, tapi waktu kejadian itu aku panic banget sampe histeris n mau nangis. Soalnya ngeri banget sumpah, hemorrhoidsnya itu flared banget, jadi guede n super kenceng rasanya udah mau meledak.

It was really stinging and painful too, untung ya waktu itu aku masih punya sisa sample Cypress dari #Undecided dan aku pake sesuai saran dia yaitu 30 menit sekali. FYI, it was not a walk in the park ya karena kalo lagi flared banget gitu, kena Cypress itu SAKIT guys, sakitnya minta ampun kayak di sayat-sayat T.T (kalau dalam keadaan dormant ga sakit yah)... tapi biar sembuh kan ga ada jalan lain ya, itu jam 3 apa 4 subuh gitu mau gimana lagi?
Andddd, thank God it worked! Setelah pake oil nya 30 menit sekali sekitar 4 apa 5 kali, akhirnya hemorrhoidnya kempes dan udah ngga sesakit awalnya dan aku bisa balik tidur lagi. Sejak itu aku makin sadar kalo oil itu bukan obat tapi oil itu tetap bisa bantu disaat emergency (coba kalo waktu itu aku ga punya oil, aku mau pake apa?) dan juga emang harus di pake secara rutin kalo mau ada hasilnya.
Apakah aku langsung sembuh abis gitu? Oh tentu tydac, Ferguso. Meskipun flare paling parah emang malem itu, aku pun udah rajin untuk pake Cypress tiap malem - tapi aku sempet kumat hemorrhoid flare selama sebulan yang bikin duduk tu sangat ngga nyaman (those OTT TV commercials are not out of line guys T.T), and i learned to live it with it sampe aku pernah naik wahana di amusement park dalam keadaan ambeien dan cuma bisaberdoa biar dia ngga meletus :)).
Aku sempat sharing juga soal hemorrhoidku di Socmed dan kaget banget pas tau banyak banget temen-temen yang juga suffering from hemorrhoid! Kebanyakan cewe kalo hemorrhoid biasanya setelah melahirkan, tapi ternyata banyak temen aku yang belum punya anak udah parah hemorrhoid nya, ada juga yang sudah punya anak tapi udah parah sejak belum punya anak. That's when i realized that hemorrhoid is a very common problem, according to John Hopkins Medicine :
Hemorrhoids are very common in both men and women. About half of all people will have hemorrhoids by age 50. Many women get hemorrhoids during pregnancy and childbirth. The pressure of carrying a baby in your belly puts extra stress on the blood vessels in your pelvic area.
Right now, my hemorrhoid is controlled and i'm in a good condition. Bukan ngga pernah kumat yah, masih lah kadang-kadang, tapi aku tuh sekarang kayak udah terlatih dan tau harus gimana kalo hemorrhoid aku kumat jadi udah ngga panik lagi. Karena aku terbantu banget sama saran-saran dan rekomendasi teman-teman aku selama treating my hemorrhoid, aku juga mau share semua yang aku pake untuk treat dan juga menjaga biar hemorrhoid aku ngga flaring lagi yang bener-bener works for me.
1. Cypress Essential Oil
Ini sekarang harus selalu in stock for me. Dan aku kemana-mana juga aku bawa (karena last time i got a hemorrhoid flare while vacationing in Malang -___- ini aku jadi agak trauma glamping, tapi terus aku barusan glamping lagi HAHAHA capek deh) karena ini bener-bener my hemorrhoid emergency kit. Kalau udah parah banget aku pake ini 30 menit sekali sampe membaik, kalo untuk maintenance sih 1x sehari cukup. Ideally, kalau kalian rajin sebenernya aku rekomen olesin Cypress (cara pakenya : di tetesin di jari 1 tetes aja terus di oles directly ke hemorrhoid. Kalau sakit banget bisa di dilute pake carrier oil) daily sih, tapi karena aku pemalas amit-amit... biasanya kalo ada tanda-tanda mau kumat baru aku oles lagi >.< jangan ditiru sih... Tapi yang pasti sejak dirajinin pake Cypress ini pas parah-parahnya, sekarang kalo hemorrhoid aku kumat aku cuma perlu oles Cypress 1-2x udah langsung stop flare nya.
Untuk essential oil aku pakenya emang cuma Young Living ya because i personally believe that they use the best, top grade ingredients and they are PURE essential oil. Untuk merk-merk lain, try at your own risk karena aku pribadi ngga tau seberapa pure kandungan EO mereka, karena ini sensitive soalnya di oles langsung di area yang bermasalah kan, aku sih ngga mau cari masalah hehehe.

2. Ambeven
Ambeven ini mungkin salah 1 obat wasir (oya, kenapa aku ga bilang wasir aja sih. Masih ew sih tapi menurutku wasir still sounds better than ambeien!) OTC yang paling terkenal dan affordable ya... Aku mutusin untuk minum obat sambil oiling karena waktu itu lagi parah banget dan aku pengen cepet sembuh karena nyiksa banget! Aku nanya ke apotek dan mereka rekomendasikan Ambeven ini, ditawarin yang lebih keras (dan lebih muahal ofc) juga tapi aku prefer yang ringan deh (dan ingredientsnya tuh banyak yang herbal juga ya, main ingredients nya aja daun handeuleum atau daun ungu dan masuk kategori jamu).
Meskipun ini pilihan yang lebih ringan, side effectnya lumayan loh T.T... aku tuh jadi mules-mules, poop mulu, terus lemes dan ngantukkk banget... Kirain kenapa, ternyata emang side effect nya. Jadi kalau ngga kepepet karena lagi parah, aku ngga minum ya... Oya, kalau di apotek harganya 18-20rb, tapi karena hemorrhoid ini ngga bisa sembuh overnight, kalo udah parah dan harus minum obat itu bisa pake cukup banyak - jadi 20rb di kali sekian lumayan juga okeh, so i have a link to a Shopee store yang jualnya 15rbn an, lumayan tau 4-5ribu kalo di kali sekian!
3. Sitz Bath
Nah kalo hemorrhoid kalian lagi flaring, untuk soothing in between oiling bisa pake sitz bath juga ya, ini aku di ajarin temen blogger lama (shout out to Neni!). Sitz bath ini kayak bowl gitu loh untuk merendam pantat hehehehe. Tinggal di tuangin air anget + epsom salt aja.Ini bantu banget untuk soothing dan juga epsom saltnya bantu meredakan flaringnya.
As usual, aku belinya di Shopee ya, rupa-rupa harganya haha, aku sih nemu OS ini yang termasuk paling affordable - karena ukurannya gede n ga bisa di lipet jadi kena volume jadi ongkir pasti dihitung 2kg yee.
4. Epsom Salt
Kalo ini pasangannya Sitz Bath yaaa, kata hunny sih Epsom Salt itu garam Inggris? Buat masak? Since i don't cook, i have no idea what Epsom Salt is (tapi tulisan di bungkusannya untuk rendam kaki, pencahar, memasak. Aku baru tau donk garem bisa buat pencahar dan caranya diminum, you can learn more about it here).
Btw bisa pake essential oil salts juga sih kayaknya, aku pas searching keluar macem-macem dan aku sendiri punya stock garem mandi buat berendam yang infused with Lavender EO jadi aku lebih sering pake yang itu and it works well too. Tapi kalo mau cari yang pasti-pasti aja dan super on budget beli Epsom salt biasa aja kayak yg ini.
Last but not least, cari tau yang triggering hemorrhoid flare - mu apa, kalo aku tuh jelas banget suka kumat kalo sembelit (aku tuh kalo sembelit bisa sakit perut berkali-kali dan harus ke toilet berkali-kali tapi keluarnya dikit-dikit malah tambah mules!) jadi kalo aku udah mulai ngga lancar ke belakang, aku udah waspada dan buru-buru cari cara untuk melancarkan poop. Karena aku ngga suka pake obat pencahar aneh-aneh, aku perfer pake yang alami : pake buah.
Berhubung aku ngga doyan banget pepaya (aku ga kuat baunya boooo, kemaren sempet dipaksain coba makan dan bukannya lancar kebelakang malah aku mual-mual seharian terus sampe kebawa mimpi. Iya selebay itu bencinya aku sama pepayaaa), kemaren aku diingetin sobat dokter aku si Sabsab kalo buah naga a.k.a dragon fruit itu ga bau dan manfaaatnya lebih dahsyat dibandingin pepaya, terus aku baru sadar deh kalo IYA YA AKU KAN DOYAN BANGET DRAGON FRUIT. Asli bego -___- bisa-bisanya lupa. Anyway, kalo mulai sembelit aku biasanya beli beberapa biji dragon fruit dan makan tiap hari (aku beneran doyan jadi 1 biji yg guede juga aku bisa makan sendirian btw), and in a few short days langsung jadi lancar dan normal lagi.
Ada yang triggernya makanan pedes (kalo aku, selama makanannya ga sampe bikin aku diare, ga akan trigger hemorrhoid. Tapi kalau lagi kumat hemorrhoid, aku langsung stop makan pedes-pedes karena makin kacau nantinya wkwkwk. Tapi kalo dalam keadaan dormant -LOL- kayak sekarang, makan makanan pedes moderately ngga ada masalah kalo untuk hemorrhoid ku), ya pokoknya kalian harus lebih in tuned with your own body lah, dengerin badan kamu... Dan lebih pengertian sama badannya sendiri ya!

I know how much it can hurt when it's flaring, apparently you are far from alone and there's nothing to be ashamed of haha (karena banyak yang malu pas tau ada hemorrhoid, incl me!).
