Today's post gonna be quite short but i would say pretty important nonetheless.
As someone who is super addicted with everything beauty, i often forget that no, not everybody (in fact, most people aren't) is as crazy about skin care and beauty like me. But i honestly am quite shocked to know that many people doesn't even know (or care enough) about proper cleansing and skin care routine. I mean, when it comes to makeup, it's definitely not for everybody. Some are junkies like me, some wear a little bit, some wear them because they have to (because looking presentable is key in their line of work) and some people doesn't wear any - that's totally awesome, you do you, makeup or no makeup is no big deal.
But proper cleansing? OMG, it's like BASIC and a total necessity okay, i have no idea how anyone can go to bed with makeup on (i always, ALWAY remove my makeup even when i am super drink/sick okay, there is just NO EXCUSE) or come home from anywhere (especially after a long day) and not do the proper cleansing steps before resting. Honestly, it's driving me crazy. The thought of people not using at least moisturizer every day also keeping me up at night (LOL, not really, but you get what i mean) but that's for another time, today i am going to focus on the basic-est of all basic when it comes to taking care of your skin, your face, and therefore - YOU. Cleansing. Is. A. Must.
And i don't want to hear excuses like tiredness or no time, whatever. Life is so much easier today because we have a product that can remove all makeup and dirt with just one step, which is Micellar Water okay.
The mother of all Micellar Water : Bioderma |
So if you are strapped for time/is really really tired/really drunk/really sick, you can just whip out your Bioderma Sensibio H2O, use a few cotton pads soaked with it all over your face and be done with it. But for me, that's just for emergency purposes and if you want to have a flawless, youthful skin, let me introduce you to my non-negotiable 3-steps-cleansing routine.
*Please note that this is my cleansing routine for whenever i use makeup, if i am at home the whole day with nothing but skincare on my face, i adjust the cleansing routine and taking off the unnecessary steps.
First step is i would always use a bi-phase (those oil and watery makeup removers that you have to shake to mix before usage) eye and makeup remover. I wear a lot of eye makeup whenever i go to events (you know, waterproof mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadows and falsies!) and i need a strong but gentle makeup removers to take them off easily without tugging too much around the sensitive eye area. If you do not use a lot of eye makeup and no waterproof products, you can use Bioderma instead because it is gentle for your entire face. But for me (whenever i wear eye makeups), bi-phase remover is a must.
Next step is Bioderma Sensibio H2O (before being introduced to Bioderma, i used to remove my makeup using cleansing oil/milk, but i won't lie, micellar water is so convenient and hassle-less compared to cleansing oil and milk so if i have to choose now i would say that i am a micellar water convert for my second cleansing step >.<) which is gentle but strong enough to remove all of my base makeup, i also sweep the cotton soaked with Bioderma all over my eyes and lips again to make sure any residue of makeup are thoroughly removed.
Speaking of Bioderma (which i get introduced to in 2017 and has been using endless bottles of their Sensibio H2O. I also use a lot of their other products like the autoderm creme), their most iconic and famous product is, without a doubt, Sensibio H2O (in case you do not know yet, they also have other variants of Micellar water catered for different skin types and needs, but the Sensibio H2O is pretty much safe to use for every skin as it is super gentle and made for sensitive skin) - have you heard that they have come out with a new packing, with pump dispenser to make your life even easier!

All you need to do is press a cotton pad on top of the pump and it will dispense the micellar water to your pad, ready to use! |
3rd Step is facial wash. Although micellar water can be used as the final step, if you have acne prone, sensitive skin, i would suggest you to still wash your face after. Not everybody, but some people would get acne if they do not wash their face after using micellar water - this step is not for everybody but for general population, it's a step that i would suggest (for me personally, the ingredient in the micellar water is not something i want to stay overnight and topped with skin care, i would feel incomplete if i haven't wash my face yet). It would make sure that your skin is completely clean and ready to receive your skin care.
The last step is actually already getting into your skin care routine, that is using a toner (i alternate between exfoliating and moisturizing toner depending on my skin's needs). The 3 cleansing steps should already make your skin completely clean, but if there is any left then your toner would catch it - toning is also an important step to prep your skin to absorb your skin care.
Not so hard, is it? If you haven't done your cleaning steps properly (whether you wear makeup or not you still need a proper cleansing step okay, you can skip the eye and lip makeup remover if you wear zero makeup but the rest of the steps are still a must) i really hope that this post can help you to know the proper steps and why each step is crucial.
At least, make sure you have a Bioderma micellar water ready so no matter how lazy you are, you surely can spare a few seconds to use it for your own skin's health! |
PS : The post ended up much longer than i intended :))) LOL.
