Penang 2019 : Wonderfood Museum

Hey guysss!

OMG it's been forever since i do fun travel related posts yes, i know i just got lazier and lazier (especially when it comes to editing and prepping the pic, and i don't even really edit my pics for the blog!!!). Part of it is also because i haven't gone to any countries that i haven't been to in a while, i do go on shorter and closer trips a lot more in the past 2 years due to various reasons and i am a bit too caught up to create posey photos for the gram so i haven't really just go to trips to enjoy and then document it on the blog like i used to. Totally hoping that i will be able to book another trip to unchartered territories (which is always an incentive to document it more closely) soon, most probably gonna do it in 2020 as i'm almost fully booked for 2019 haha (i am still open for December if anyone is interested in inviting me to be their travel buddy hahaha).

Anyway, we went to Penang last April and honestly i didn't plan to blog anything about this trip since i've been to Penang multiple times (and if you search this blog you will find my Penang posts from 2015 when i was still very diligent on my documenting my trips daily) and our main goal for this trip was food (for hubby) and Instagram content (for me and Bella) *LOL* but i ended up more pics that i cannot post all (you know how IG works haha, too many pics of one place and i won't get likes anymore :p) of them on the Gram so i decided to blog some (if i'm not too lazy. If i am then this will be the single post from the trip hahaha) of them.

One of the places that i specifically wanted to visit in Penang was the Wonderfood Museum because 1, i love museums, 2 i love cute things and 3 i like to take pictures - Wonderfood Museum arguably has all three so ever since i saw snippets of it from CL's IG, i already knew i wanted to come and it didn't disappoint coz it was pretty fun to visit!

Like i already mentioned, i didn't plan to blog this at first - that's why you are not getting the whole front pic of the building and other details like i usually do >.<, sorry! I usually am very OCD and detailed oriented when it comes to blog posts, but this time i literally just want a platform to post all the silly pics we took!

Anyway, entrance fee is RM 25 for adult foreigners (RM 15 for kids) and nowadays it's just very easy to purchase entrance tickets in advance thanks to apps and websites like Klook and Traveloka (i think hunny purchased the entrance tickets from Traveloka because it was slightly cheaper than Klook) so i personally prefer to get them before my trip so i won't have to bring too much cash/use credit card overseas and make my schedule neater as well. I also think that the entrance fee is pretty reasonable for the experience, it's not too expensive that i wouldn't want to return.

In Wonderfood Museum not only you can learn mostly about Malaysian food diversities (as they are a melting pot nation too) but also take loads of pics for the gram.

Then there are fake food spreads on the walls, they look so good that it's mouth watering...

I'm pretty sure it's the Indian food spread (don't bully me if i'm wrong, i clearly love my food but i am very bad at remember/describing them! Food blogger i am not...) and we love Indian food so we took pics with this one

What if all food and drinks (and your world) is black and white... How bleak would that be

As i am typing this i realized that Bella didn't send me the pics where we dined on a colorful food *LOL*, i should remember to ask her for that one...

In the next room there are gargantuan sized food models, it was so cute but also so crowded *LOL*, since the food models were strewn all over the room and is pretty low (you can see i had to squat to take this pic) that it was the hardest place to take pics at since people would constantly photobomb you (and you also accidentally doing the same)

Okay so if you don't already know, i have a very cheap, very Indonesian taste bud. Don't get me wrong, i do love steaks, salads and stuffs, but my favorite FAVORITE foods that i can eat everyday without getting sick would all be Indonesian (and also other South East Asian) food. Stuffs like nasi padang, ayam penyet and bebek goreng are all i need in life >.<, another fave that not many of you might know? Sate kerang (i always find it hard to translate kerang to English, but after some research i think the best way to call it is scallop even though i have a very strong image on what scallop is and those aren't the kerang that i am thinking about *i feel like they're more like... mussels?? Or clams.. OMG i dunno!!!*, but maybe there plenty of different types of scallops? Oh geez, told ya i am bad when it comes to describing food and ingredients... But anyway!

So i was genuinely excited when i spotted the giant sate kerang i actually squaled and rushed over to snatch it. Yes peepel, i am 5 years old inside and i have no idea how to act cool at all

Posting multiple (crooked, this is before hunny suddenly found his hidden passion for photography. I think from now on my travel pics might be a lot more photogenic than before *fingers crossed he doesn't suddenly lost interest again*) pics of this because it's too cute, no?

If giant rubber kerangs makes me happy, imagine if you hand me a real thing...

Like most of these creative, modern, selfie museums, they are actually located in a shophouse type of building and the rest of the exhibition are in the second floor.

Giant pratas to feed the whole kampong

I just found out that our taste buds change every 7 years or so, i used to like durians when i was little, and i actually still don't hate them but i really hate the smell (and the after taste) so i decide to avoid them since many years ago

I am effing obsessed with brown sugar and it's got nothing to do with the trend okay, i just always LOVED brown sugar even though i am not big on sweets. When it comes to dessert, i also love traditional cakes more than modern cakes - it is now a trend to turn kuehs into modern cakes so i've been wanting to try klepon cakes for the longest time even though i'm actually pretty so so to the actual klepon *LOL*

This room was smaller and there are props strewn around so again this area could be pretty congested (although since the props are backed against walls, it's much easier to take picture without people photo bombing compared to the giant food area) so people actually watch you when you take pictures - and hunny and i hold nothing back when it comes to our couple pics so i guess i'm glad to entertain the other guests? They were having a blast laughing while watching us...

Chilli!!! As a spicy food addict (i have reduce my spicy food intake since i realized that shrimp paste in sambals can give me allergies sometimes) i have to declare my love for chillies

And eggs... OHHH how i loveee eggs... My favorite form is boiled (this is probably a very unpopular form *LOL*) but the sunny side up can represent alright

As for me, i prefer to pose with the fake sweets that to actually consume them *gimme all the carbs and savory food instead hahaha*

A pic that pretty much summarize our relationship

Hunny good humoredly do whatever i ask him to do while i pout and stomp my feet until he does it (if he tries to resist). I real life he is the one forever trying to make me consume bitter gourds tho, it's not gonna happen.

Ofc i didn't take picture of every spot (the repeat with different type of food didn't interest me too much) and this looks like a very self-absorbed post as it has our faces in all of the pics haha but i think this post will give you a very clear idea of how the museum looks like and what to expect from it. If you are into interactive exhibition, love taking posey pics and have a passion for food, i would say this museum is a must visit at least once if you ever find yourself in Penang.

This museum is located in a very gorgeous, European vibed neighborhood so if you are keen, you can also take OOTDs and other pics outside (just make sure you come earlier or a little bit later as Penang is pretty hot with strong sun most of the time so photo taking outdoor in the middle of the day might risk a heatstroke *LOL*, okay lah a bit exaggeration but you get the gist :p).

Another tip, nearby this area you can find a cool award winning cafe that serves kawaii latte art (i posted some pics of the latte art we ordered, go check it out on my Instagram, search #PinkinPenang for my Penang pics or #Pinkjalanjalan for my travel pics in the past 3 years or so after i began using one specific hashtag hehe) called Coffe on the Table, after taking loads of pics and walking around the heat (this is also the area to take pics with the famous street art) you'd want a cold glass of refreshment (they also serve other kind of beverages and also food, ofc) and the place is worth checking out ^^.
