Hellow ma friends!
It feels like Sunday today although it's actually Thursday, if you're a fellow Indonesian that is - Happy Nyepi Day for those who celebrates! And for the rest of Indonesians, happy holiday!
Today i am back to share with you my experience with Safi White Expert series ^^.
Safi White Expert |
Have you ever heard of Safi before? Safi is actually a Halal beauty brand from Malaysia (apparently it's been around for 34 years!) that recently become readily available in Indonesia too. I was actually invited to their event a few weeks ago and there i learned more about the brand (like how they actually have their own Halal Skincare Research Institute!) because i didn't know much about it before attending the event other than that it's new to Indonesia (since 2018 i think) and a lot of beauty influencers rave about their products.
With other beauty influencers and enthusiasts at the event |
At the event we also had the chance to experience some of their products (pretty much all of the White Expert products and then some) and also bring home some products to try and use further.
From the product experience during the event, i was already blown away by Safi's products performance. The fact that they are very affordable (think drugstore affordable! In fact Safi's products can now be easily found in local drugstores as well as supermarkets) combined with their high quality, it's safe to say that Safi's not playing and they're definitely here to stay!
As i am unable to use all of the products for 2 weeks full (i had some allergy problems, it's got nothing to do with Safi products but it's something that i ate. Still, since my skin become super sensitive and irritated i decided to stop using all skin care other than the facial wash to focus on healing using doctor's medications first), this is more of a first impression than a full blown review. So far i have nothing but good things to say about Safi's products that i tried, but if after using it further i change my mind about anything, i will make sure to update this post.
Safi White Expert (please note that this is not the entire line as they have other products in this line including makeup remover, essence and a 2 in 1 cleanser and toner) |
The main points of Expert White is the Seed of Blessing and Oxywhite Technology. Seed of Blessing is Habbatus Sauda or black cumin (jintan hitam in Indonesian) has been trusted for hundreds of years to use as medicine for all kinds of diseases, is used here to care for skin's health and luminosity. It also contains antioxidant to help prevent skin from free radicals - while Oxywhite Technology works to increase oxygen and nutrition's absorbance and helps slows down melanin formation effect therefore skin feels firmer and evenly bright.
First up, is ofc : Cleansing. As i mentioned above, they also have a makeup remover (remember that it is very essential to use a separate makeup remover before facial cleanser whenever you use ANY makeup because no facial cleanser can remove all traces of makeup!) but the product that i get to try further is their Purifying Cleanser.
Safi White Expert Purifying Cleanser, available in 50gr (IDR 24,900) and 100gr (IDR 34,900). Packaging is very simple and typical of a facial cleanser in a squeeze plastic tube with flip cap, dominated with white and blue color. I am not fussy when it comes to the packaging of my facial cleansers so i see no problem with the simple and no-nonsense packaging. |
Ingredient list and how to use |
Made in Malaysia and are already registered to BPOM and receives MUI's Halal certificate |
All of Safi White Expert products seems to have the same refreshing, calming scent which i enjoy (it's non offensive for me, but if you are sensitive to any scent on your skin care then you might want to note that they do have a pretty strong scent).
The texture of the Purifying Cleanser is pretty thick but very easy to dissolve when watered as it is very soft |
As the texture of the cleanser is pretty thick, a little goes a long way! You don't need too much to use on your entire face. When mixed with water it turns into a thick, rich and smooth foam |
I've actually been using this Purifying Cleanser nonstop so this is one product that i would say i really qualify to do a full review on haha. Both hubby and i use this exclusively to wash our faces in the past week or so and it's been kind to both my oily (but currently very sensitive and allergy ridden) skin and hubby's very dry and sensitive skin. It feels lovely to use andalways manages to make my skin feels very clean without leaving a dry or stretched feelins - but i also always continue with the next steps of my skin care routine, otherwise it would feel pretty dry!
I would definitely keep using it and there is a high chance for me to buy more in the future if i run out of facial cleansers as it works so well and it's so affordable too!
Next is Safi White Expert Deep Exfoliator :
Safi White Expert Deep Exfoliator - IDR 46,800 For some reasons it listed as 72gr on their website but it stated 100 gr in my product, it's also exactly the same size and packaging (just different colors) with the Purifying Cleanser |
Ingredient list and how to use |
Remember, over exfoliating your skin is never a good news so make sure only to use this twice or three times top in a week (i personally like to alternate scrub with peeling products so i use this once a week) and you should use it on a damp skin that has been cleansed before.
The scrub is very thick and creamy, off white in color with spots of the apricot seeds scrub |
Just like the Purifying Cleanser, a little goes a long way and make sure your skin is adequately dampened. I like this scrub a lot as it leaves my skin feeling super smooth and silky after usage and i do believe it would help with white and black heads if used regularly. The texture is just right, it is not so soft that all traces of scrub dissolves as soon as it makes contacts with water, but also not so harsh that you feel like your face is being sand-papered *LOL*. And for the price? It goes to the top of my facial scrub list!
Let's talk about their creams now!
Safi White Expert Illuminating Day Cream SPF15PA++, available in 2 sizes : 20gr -IDR 47,500 and 45gr - IDR 99,000 It comes in a luxurious, frosted glass jar with silver cap |
I do like how luxe (even if it's still very affordable) the packaging is but i personally am not the biggest fan of jar packaging (i much prefer creams that has pumps) |
The texture of the cream is actually pretty light, lighter than most day creams that contains sunscreen |
It is not a secret that i am not the biggest fan of day creams since i have very oily skin (so i usually use very light moisturizers or even just hydrating mists during the day if i don't go out) but i did try out this day cream and as it is pretty light, i actually don't mind using it. It does gets absorbed pretty quickly without leaving traces of grease or stickiness behind. However, it does makes me oily after a few hours (well, this is totally expected) so if i am about to use it for the whole day under my makeup, i will make sure i set my face with mattifying powder first. So far so good, the cream does work nicely, it's not their fault that i have very oily skin and am so fussy when it comes to day moisturizers haha.
I also think it's brilliant that both the day and night cream comes in two different sizes, not only the smaller one would be so much more convenient to bring to travel, you can also get it to try it first and see if it works well on your skin before investing on the bigger size.
Safi White Expert Replenishing Night Cream, also available in 2 sizes : 20gr - IDR 47,500 and 45gr - IDR 103,000 |
Packaging wise, it is the same as the day cream except that the cap is blue |
Also comes with extra lid to ensure the product doesn't spill or leak everywhere |
Because i didn't read the instructions beforehand, i was pretty surprised when i realized that the night cream is actually a gel - in a good way because my skin always loves gel type of moisturizers as usually they are not too rich for my skin (creams that are too heavy and rich will definitely cause clogged pores that leads to white heads for my skin).
Just looking at the aqua colored gel makes me feel super refreshed ^^ |
The gel really is light but dense so it won't drip if you tilt your hand |
Upon application, i love how the night cream feels on my skin! I feel very refreshed but also well moisturized but not greasy. However, even though it is gel and claims to be very light, it is more than adequate to hydrate my skin all night long - this means my skin actually start to feel greasy and oily after a few hours, but it's not a big deal. I still like this night cream and will continue using them.
Safi White Expert CC Cream SPF 24PA++ , 20 gr - IDR 79,000 |
Packaging wise it's again, very simple and similar to most CC/BB Creams in the market - in a small squeeze plastic tube |
The information on the product can also be found at the back of the product, not only on the box |
Blends into my skin seamlessly |
I love this CC Cream! It's one of my favorite products out of this line for sure. I used a few CC Creams in the past and as they are more of a Color Correction, they usually don't have a lot in terms of coverage so most people would use more product on top (foundations or cushions) so i also didn't have any expectations when i tried it on. But to my surprise, if you don't have too many blemishes on your skin, you can get away with using only this CC Cream and some concealer!
I was ready to add cushions on top of the CC Cream during the product experience at the event, but when i looked at the mirror my skin already looks pretty good and *ahem* flawless with the CC Cream so i decided to skip adding anymore cream products (except some light concealers) and go straight to powders, this is the result :
Ofc it is still a CC Cream so please don't expect too much when it comes to coverage, it does have a light coverage and if like me, you have little things to conceal in the first place, you can definitely get away with only this as your base makeup (with the little help of concealers, for me concealer is a must) especially for everyday use (in this line, this product works as the sunblock as well so you are supposed to use it everyday anyway).
As it only has one shade, even though it claims to be suitable for all skin type, if you have very deep and warm skin tone i don't see how you can use it on its own. One of my friends who has a warm skin tone (not necessarily very dark) sees some white cast (which can result in ashiness) when used on her skin so you might want to apply skin tone suitable products on top of the CC Cream to cancel out the ashiness.
Also it claims to reduce shine on oily skin but honestly on top of the other products (i used to whole line during the event, including the essence and day cream) it doesn't take long for my skin to become very oily so don't rely on it too much if you want a matte makeup (which i prefer).
Well, that concludes all of my experience with all five products from Safi White Expert, all mostly are very positive so i am confident to recommend this line for you all who are looking for affordable, light and gentle cleansers and skin care products that are easy to purchase in the nearest stores.
This very positive experience also makes me pretty curious about their other products from their other lines!
Have you tried any products from Safi? Any recommendation of their products other than the ones that i've included in this post? Please share with me in the comment section below!
