Pink and Undecided: lips

Lip-Talk 42 : ARRA Beauty

Hey guys!

You should all feel special because it is my birthday and i chose to spend the last hours of if writing a review for you *LOL*,

And an appropriate one, as i am getting on year older (that much closer to ancienity *sigh*) i definitely appreciate products that have anti aging properties in it (because i want to be frozen in time and look 21 forever hahaha). Aging happens to us in every part of our bodies, including our lips - therefore it is important for us to take care of our lips - the earlier the better - that's why this product that i am going to review today is very interesting and appealing : ARRA Beauty, a lip cosmetic brand with anti aging formula. Their products contains emollient that beautifies your lips inside out.

ARRA Beauty lip matte and lip moist

ARRA Beauty itself is a higher end local beauty brand that i have been eyeing for a while, especially because of their pretty packaging and also rave reviews about them so i am super elated when i got three of their lippies from Clozette Indonesia, two of their newest lip matte shades and also their lip moist.

ARRA Beauty lippies come in a pretty gray box with holographic design on them

They have the same box and packaging for their lip matte and lip moist

As usual, i am only featuring one information of the ingredient etc of the product because they all should have pretty similar ingredient with a few tweaks here and there. Other than containing anti aging properties, ARRA Beauty products are also free of parabens, sulfate, alcohol, allergen and beeswax - making them save for sensitive skin as well as those of us with allergens

In the box you will find this sleeve with the lippie inside

The tubes are quite short and small (each tube contains 4.5ml worth of product inside), made of nice quality glossy plastic with ombre style which allows you to see the shade inside easily. They are all very light weight and compact, easy to travel with

The wand is pretty short and the applicator is flat, quite unusual but i find no problem navigating and maneuver it

And here are the swatches of the lippies that i got before we talk about them further :

L-R : Lip Moist, Bungo and Soka
Under natural sunglight

Under artificial light, but actually they look closer than their actual colors here

First up, let's talk about the new shades of the lip mattes :

ARRA Beauty Lip Matte in Soka

You will find the shade name under the tube as well

Soka is a warm, nude shade with a tinge of coral :

Soka on my lips, it's slightly darker in real life. It's a sweet nude shade that would look like a MLBB type of shade on deeper skin tone while still highly complimenting fairer skin tones like mine

Soka is a very easy shade to wear, you can wear it on your bare face, with very minimal makeup of with full makeup, it will still look gorgeous. A shade that should be in every woman's posession

I find the formula on Soka and Bungo are slightly different, i think you can see it from the arm swatches too how Soka is slightly thinner in formula. It's still pretty pigmented and i do not feel the need to re-dip my wand to fill in my entire lips, but it is definitely not as pigmented as Bungo.

Both lip mattes has velvety finish, a type of finish that i personally enjoy as they look pretty matte but doesn't feel very dry on the lips. This means they do transfer, but still have superb staying power as i can eat and drink - and i would still have the lip color on. Ofc, very heavy and greasy meal would mean that you have to reapply, but who doesn't wipe their mouth clean after a greasy meal anyway??? I also find them not crusting or bunching so retouching is a breeze.

Both lip mattes are comfortable for long wear and my lips are not dry/hurting by the end of the day, thanks to all those emollient and lip caring formula they contain! Oh yeah, the lip mattes have this bittersweet milk chocolate scent that is pretty announced, i personally enjoy the scent but if you are not a fan of bittersweet chocolate scent then you might wannabe warned beforehand ^^.

ARRA Beauty Lip Matte in Bungo

Bungo is a gorgeous, gorgeous shade - but it is a bold shade so it might not be everybody's cup of tea - but i personally LOVE it! It is a deep fuchsia that will look awesome on both deep and fair skin. It also has a blue undertone that would make your teeth look whiter

I am not much of a pink lipstick lover, but i do love a good fuchsia and i feel Bungo really makes my pale complexion pop in all the right ways

I love to use Bungo both on my full lips for a bolder, more mature look and also in the inner part of my lips for a sweet ombre look

Like i mentioned earlier, the formula on Bungo is thicker and more pigmented than Soka. You only need a little bit and it goes a long long way. The staying power is also even better as it is a darker shade and this one leaves a beautiful tint even after you wipe your lips off. Other than that, the performance is similar to Soka in how comfortable and lip caring it is. Bungo is my personal favorite out of the two new shades although in reality Soka will get a lot more use on day to day basis.

Then let's also talk about their Lip Moist :

ARRA Beauty Lip Moist only comes in one shade, on the bottle it looks red with gold glitter on it but once applied it's almost clear with just the slightest pink tint in it

On the lips the lip moist is almost like a clear gloss, in this picture i was wearing it on top of a tinted lip balm so it looks more pink

ARRA Beauty Lip Moist is like a hybrid between a lip oil and a lip gloss, it can be used both before or after lipstick as a lip care and gloss. My lips were pretty dry and cracky when i fist start using it and after applying it the whole day my lips are in much better condition so it can definitely be categorized as a lip care product as well.

If you are expecting a full on gloss, i think you might be a bit disappointed as it has a thin and watery formula so it would dry off/get absorbed into your lips after a little while. It is very very comfortable and it has a fresh strawberry scent, i absolutely love wearing it on top of a tint/tinted lip balm on days when i want to look more natural. I would also recommend to use it on top of your lip mattes if you feel like your lips are starting to feel dry, it would soothe and fix your lips pretty much immediately!

I love both the lip mattes and lip moist from ARRA Beauty as i have such positive experience with them, if you are in the market for a comfortable, yummy smelling, lip caring lip creams then i would highly recommend you to check out ARRA Lip mattes, i personally am super interested to try out their other shades as well. If you are looking for a high quality lip care you can wear on a daily for a naturally fresh lips or on top of lip creams, then i would also highly recommend you to give ARRA Beauty lip moist a try!

Thank you Clozette Indonesia and ARRA Beauty for the chance to try out these awesome lippies!

Lip-Talk 10 : Mineral Botanica Moisturizing Lipstick in 010 Burgundy

beauty

Hello hello :D!

As you might already read at the mini haul post for Mineral Botanica, i decided to review one of the products i purchased (which is against my rules of lining my newly bought products obsessively *LOL*) because i'd like to support great local products and all-and the item that i'm going to review is their Moisturizing Lipstick ^^.

Their Moisturizing Lipstick is the one product that first caught my eyes when i stumbled into Mineral Botanica, the reason is obvious : the packaging *LOL*. If you've been following this blog for a while then you'd probably know that one of my current obsessions (and when i am obsessed with something i tend to want to hoard them in scary amount zzz) is crayon shaped lipsticks. I believe that Mineral Botanica is among the first in Indonesian beauty industry to come up with a twist up crayon lipstick, the only other products that are similar (that i know of. Lately there are a lot of new Indonesian cosmetics with amazing packaging that sadly are not available in Surabaya yet zzzz) to this actually are chubby lip pencil types, which i don't really like because shaving them feels like a total waste of product!

Like i said, totally love their sleek, professional and exclusive design.

The lip crayon (and most of the other products i bought) was wrapped in a plastic seal to ensure the newness of the product. Unfortunately, when i yanked off the plastic wrapper (not too gently, i admit), the transparent cap got yanked as well and it nicked the lipstick a bit *cries dramatically* *i hate ruining my makeup*.

You can see the dent clearly >.<, totally broke my heart *LOL*

Shade 010 Burgundy, and it contains 3.5 g of lipstick (which is pretty normal, i think?)

The crayon packaging is made from a lightweight but not frail, smooth plastic with a transparent cap. To be honest with you, the cap makes me a bit nervous because in my experience that kind of caps are quite easy to crack, especially if you're exceptionally clumsy and careless like me which means you're bound to repeatedly drop it at some point *sigh*. Fingers crossed it's not going to happen!

While i like the way it looks and feels, also how the protruding crayon head's making it easier for you to identify the shade if you have more than one of these lipsticks (since their packaging are all identical and there's no other way to indicate the shade without reading the label on the bottom if the cap's not transparent), i am also a bit annoyed that it's so far up that it's very easy to nick and hurt your lipstick if you're not extremely careful.

The shade i got is 010 Burgundy, which by name itself i'd expect it to be deeper and darker, but looking at the catalog i did expect it to be a bit more lilac.

It's reddish purple in real life, almost fuschia with a metallic sheen

Let's see the swatches :

Bare lips (i didn't put on any lip balm to test out this lipstick)

With 010 Burgundy, i only realized that i missed the right corners after snapping this pic :p

This moisturizing lipstick has a pleasant, fruity scent (grapefruit? Sorry, i'm bad at describing or identifying scents!) that is not too overpowering , i love nicely scented lippies-definitely beat those with old, chemical scent! It is also quite pigmented, the color shows up rather strongly from the first swipe. It feels quite creamy and glides very easily without tugging.

I love the consistency of this lipstick, it is not drying and my lips doesn't feel like it's stripped of any moisture like how i sometimes feel when i wear other lipsticks without applying any lip balm underneath. It stays on for a pretty long time even after i eat and drink, this is how it looks after around 5 hours with no touch up :

The inner part's fading, but in general the color's still there!

While i like how it's creamy and quite hydrating on my lips, i am not the biggest fan of the frosty finish it has. You probably can't really see it in the pictures, but it has a slightly metallic sheen when worn. I expected some degree of glossiness because of its moisturizing claims (which i don't mind, coz i actually love glossy/shiny lips), but the frostiness was something that i didn't expect. It's not that bothersome though, i would still use it, but i would be lying if i don't prefer the finishing to be more satiny than frosty.

Although it can be worn comfortably without lip balm underneath, i occasionally suffer from very dry lips that not even the most moisturizing lipstick would look good without any extra help! So here's how this lipstick fares with lip balm underneath.

My natural lip color with clear lip balm on

101 under artificial light

Under natural sunlight

It is understandably less pigmented when applied on top of oily lip balm, but it's still pigmented enough for me to not having to apply over and over again for it to show up.

With full makeup on

Personally i find this lipstick to look better (on me) when paired with light eye makeup (like the first picture up there where i was just wearing eyeliners) compared to this look when i was wearing purple eye shadow (the last pic). Of course, it purely depends on your taste and complexion!

For only IDR 37.500, this lipstick is quite fantastic! The packaging is nice, it's quite pigmented (for this shade ya, i read some other reviews on their other shades and they all varied in pigmentation), it's not drying, it last long and it also comes in 11 other shades!

Picture taken from Mineral Botanica's catalog in their Facebook Page

I would highly recommend it for everybody who are looking for a nice, moisturizing lipstick that won't break their banks (and for all makeup junkies out there hahaha i know you don't need any extra reason to try any new makeup right!). I wouldn't recommend this only for those who dislike frosty finish and maybe sensitive to any scent on their lip products. Also beware that the colors on their catalog doesn't really reflect how they look in real life, so if you're planning to purchase i'd suggest you to swatch them, or if you can't find it in your city (or not willing to go to specific cosmetic stores like me) and want to purchase them online (they accept orders via their Facebook inbox) then pay attention to the swatches they provided as well as try to find reviews on them to see how the color looks on different complexions.

Would i repurchase? I don't think i would ever purchase the exact same lipstick, but i would love to try out all of the other colors *LOL*, with such an affordable price i might as well! Having said that, i have so many makeups waiting to be used so it might still be a very long while until i do.

Trying out this moisturizing lipstick also makes me want to try out their other products (the BB cream, the powder, etc etc etc! Would love to try out their skin care as well!) but again *sigh*, i have to clear up some of my stocks first. I'd say Mineral Botanica is definitely a new Indonesian brand that is worth trying!

I still have three of their other products to try, which i will eventually review too, i just don't know when *LOL*. You know how 'lax i am when it's not a sponsored product (therefore i have no obligation whatsoever to review them hahaha), it might be next year or the next :p.

Did i manage to tempt you to give Mineral Botanica a try?
