Hi guys!!!
I knowww... It's becoming an alarming trend, me ignoring my blog for almost an entire month and scramble at the very last moments because i do not want to let a month goes by without any update at all >.<. Honestly i have been super busy with my Instagram and community that i hardly have time to do anything else. But i promise i will update a little bit more next month, fingers crossed...
Anyway, today's post is going to be a very long and picture heavy one because i have plenty of products to talk about and i am definitely going into detail like always so let's just get started!
So i actually wasn't familiar with the brand before, but apparently they are part of Esther House of Beauty - which is a well known beauty clinic chain that has been around since i was a teenager, which is forever ago haha. I didn't know that Esther House of Beauty has their own retail brands, Esther Cosmetic for their OTC skin cares and Esa Cosmetic is their makeup brand (eh but they have facial wash etc too).
The most exciting one for me are the eyeshadow trios and they actually sent all of the shades they have ^^. Esa Eye Color - IDR 49,500 each / 4 gr |
The packaging is small, travel friendly, simple and doesn't feel fragile. Honestly not the biggest fan of the packaging as it looks a bit outdated, but that's purely personal taste of course. You also need to check out the bottom of the palette to know which shade you are holding as all five looks exactly identical from the top |
There are five shades available, from nude, pinkish, purplish, green to blue - and before we got into each one let me show you the arm swatches of the shades :
Top 3 shades : Earth, Bottom 3 : Blossom |
Top : Fantasy, Bottom : Forest |
Sea ( would say Sea has the best color payoff compared to the rest, followed closely by Fantasy) |
To be totally honest i had no expectation when i first received them, but they are actually pretty good! Most of the shades are pretty pigmented (except for Earth and Blossom, those two are pretty sheer but very pretty and wearable for daily looks) especially the darker shades. They are not buttery (the shimmers are smoother tho) but not super chalky either, the colors can be picked up easily although it feels slightly hard (which can means bad color payoff, but this is not the case here) when touched. They are all very blendable too, both the shimmers and the mattes.
Indication of the shade is in the bottom, and this is the first shade that i am going to talk about. Fantasy also happens to be my favorite |
Esa Eye Color in Fantasy |
Esa Eye Color in Fantasy is definitely my cup of tea, when i wear shades that i love i just feel pretty instantly so i have zero edit for this pic hahaha |
Esa Eye Color in Earth, the sheerest of them all consisting of a pale champagne shade, a coppery brown (both are shimmers) and a brown shade |
Esa Eye Color in Earth - as you can see, they look super natural and muted even though i actually packed the color already |
Esa Eye Color in Blossom. If you like reddish eye makeups that's not too much, you'll like this |
Color payoff of the first two shades are sheer but the rusty red one is pretty pigmented |
If you tell me to choose i definitely would choose Blossom over Earth anytime |
Esa Eye Color in Forest - consists of three gradually darker greens, like the name suggested the greens are more on the moss green family |
It's as close to natural as green eyeshadows can be haha |
I never had to spend too much time blending whenever i use these Esa Eye Colors |
And last but not least we have Esa Eye Color in Sea. It consists of a frosty pale blue shade, bright royal blue and a dark, navy blue (almost black but it isn't) |
Esa Eye Color in Sea |
Sea shades are very pigmented! |
There was a period of my life when i first started using makeup when i feel like i had to finish one eyeshadow before using the next so i had a period where i exclusively used blue eyeshadows for months/years *LOL* so whenever i use all blue eyeshadows like this i would be reminded of that time. (Also, i am using their blush on that i am going to talk about next in this look) |
Overall i really enjoyed playing with Esa Eye Color and i would totally recommend them for you who are looking for nice quality, affordable eyeshadows in specific color families. I also challenged myself to use all five palettes in one look and you will see the result at the end of this post!
Other than the eyeshadow trios, they also sent me their blusher :
They are available in four shades, and each one looks super pretty! |
Ingredient List |
It's actually a cream blush! |
Yes, it is very pigmented when you pick it up but it sheered out considerably when applied |
Very natural looking finish, my friends with different skin tones and under tones all said they also enjoy this shade too so i think Antique Rose is suitable for a lot of skin tones! |
You might or might not already know that i am not really a cream blush kind of person, i have oily skin and i prefer powder blush on anytime - but i do enjoy the natural flush Esa Cheek Blush gives me. You can probably see it on the photo that it does feel a bit glossy and sticky, i also find it slightly patchy - i would say that this blusher is very recommended for natural makeup look lovers, especially if you use very light/no base makeup and just want a healthy, flushed look. As for me, i would always set the blush with a light powder blush on or at least some loose powder to make sure it doesn't slide around. Not exactly my fave type of blush on but i totally enjoyed it, enough to make me want to try out other shades especially Dreamy Fuschia and Berry Bronze.
The last product that i am going to talk about is the one i am most afraid of but ended up liking a lot!
Esa Cosmetic Waterproof Eyeliner Cream in Black (also available in Dark Brown) - IDR 40,000 - 2.3 gr |
So i am a liquid eyeliner kind of gal, and i only use the marker type. I am very good at drawing eyeliner if i may say so myself, i only need a few seconds to apply eyeliners on both eyes BUT somehow i can only do it easily, neatly and perfectly with marker types. I am especially bad at using brushes, this is why this eyeliner really intimidated me at first - but don't worry, if you share my problem but still want to benefit from cream/gel liner, i will share my trick later.
The actual cream liner comes in a little pot and it looks intimidatingly glossy - it dries down matte tho so don't worry if you don't like glossy eyeliners too! |
And the cap can be pulled apart |
And asssembled into the brush - which although i think it has an awkward shape, i had no problem maneuvering |
So other than the fact that i cannot use eyeliner brush to draw neat liners, i am also intimidated with the word cream. I have very watery eyes and most eyeliners (and mascaras) smudges on me especially the creamier ones so i was worried this would be the case for Esa as well, but it turned out that even though the eyeliner IS very creamy (you can feel the brush just slice through the surface like butter), it sets very much on the lid and it doesn't budge. It is jet black, very opaque - just the way i like it, and it applies easily on the lid. It's so opaque and the texture is just right that it can be used to neaten false lashes glue too!
Honestly, i am still crappy at using the brush so the end result is not neat at all (nowhere near my usual liners) but i still enjoy it very much and i will continue using it especially to neaten my falsies!
Probably my fave look is this that i did with all five palettes combined! |
And that, my friends, concludes my experience with Esa Cosmetic products. A pleasant experience that i enjoyed very much, none of their products disappoint me, instead they totally exceeded my expectation and i can safely say i will continue using them all! I enjoyed the experience so much that i am super curious about their other products as well ^^.
