South Korea 2017 : Jinju Lantern Festival

Hey hey!

Didn't i say i'm gonna be diligent?? It looks like i am keeping my words! Back to my South Korea trip last year hahaha.

Like i mentioned in the previous post (i blogged about visiting Gongju here), we went to explore parts of South Korea that are less well known than the obvious tourist traps. We stayed for about 2 weeks so we get to really relax, enjoy the country like a local and really see more of it than meets the eye - my exact fave kind of vacation.

Now, we went there during their festival seasons (because we were there around Chuseok) so there were a lot more cultural things to see than usual.

This time we actually joined Au (my niece Au who's currently studying in Busan), her boyfriend (okay, i took my time writing this so by now they're actually exes already *LOL*, young love... That never lasts :p. Oh wait, hunny and i were young loves too, even younger! I guess it's pretty rare :p) and their friends who were going to this lantern festival in Jinju.
No one to take our photo around so we just relied on a selfie to commemorate the visit
Ofc we gotta get back to the beginning of the day tho.
Makeup of the day. Told ya i look more presentable when i travel without my son :p
First thing we did was to go to the bus terminal and had a meal at the foodcourt there
Ordered this huge ass bimbimbap to share between the four of us
I meannnn... Look at it in comparison with KC's head!
Then a quick OOTD pic.
Didn't come out the way it envisioned it to be but what can i expect when it's hunny behind the phone? LOL
Why is the ticket so exp? I think it was for multiple persons because i think it wasn't very expensive
Bus selfie before i fell asleep. It was not supposed to be too long of a journey, but since it was around Chuseok apprently the traffic was badddd so we ended up having a longer ride and it was dark by the time we arrived at Jinju zzzz.
Didn't get to see a lot of Jinju since it was so dark, we went straight to the festival.
My mum and hunny immediately attracted to a food stall, ofc
Pasar Malam style area
Pretty lovely view eh
Had to cross the river to get to the festival
Entrance ticket was not cheap (i do not remember the price tho) and honestly it was wayyyy to crowded and stress inducing for me, i almost regret even going in :(.
A tunnel made of lampions
Tourist mode is always on haha
The lanterns were really nice tho, like very detailed and interesting
And there were so many of them too
From folklore to cartoon characters... All were here
Then there were the moving ones like the flying bird and the peacock that opens and closes its tail - pretty cool stuffs
Then there was also this dragon that keeps on changing color and breathing real fire out of its mouth. Totally cool
I know it's a festival and how can i expect a festival to be quiet right, well... At the Baekje festival, the space was so wide that you can easily take photos and roam around without having to bump into bunch of people, not here! It was so crowded that it was even hard to cross the bridge back to the other side T.T had to queue pretty long and it was also pretty hard to figure out the way out OMG. If you're not a fan of being surrounded by thousands of people, i actually wouldn't suggest going here. Not Jinju itself ofc, i don't know what's there in Jinju but i wouldn't mind exploring the town, but the festival... Sigh... Yeah, it wasn't for me. Crowds are just... Not my cup of tea.
We were so hot and stressed that we ended up queuing for this way overpriced mini coconut. WTF. The ones from Thailand you know, for the price they were selling we could get probably 10 of these in Bangkok hahaha
All in all actually the visit was a bit of a fail, but hey... I still got some pretty nice pics?

We arrived back in Busan pretty late and had to immediately have dinner coz ya know, older people must eat.
Went to those trendy cheesy chicken place, i have no idea what they are called but...  Cheese buldak? I don't even know what i am writing, it was just a suggestion that came up when i did a quick search on Google
Ordered fried rice too coz Indonesian gotta eat rice aaight
This is what i was talking about. If anyone knows the correct name of this dish please let me know in the comment section below
By now this kind of food is already everywhere in Indonesia, but i never have any here.  It was okay for me but definitely not the type of food that i actively would seek out. I am not big on Korean food really, i don't mind them mostly but i am not a fan (except for Korean BBQ, now that i crave for every once in a while) or anything.
With that, i am ending this post about Jinju (and some extras). At this rate i would be able to finish my South Korea trip posts soon, next month at the latest. At least i hope so hahaha!

TTYL!
