Hey guys!
August is going to be over in a few hours, before we say hello to September (which means it's only a month away from my birthday, eeeekkk!) i thought imma wrap August up with one last post!
Around last year, i reviewed one of the most hyped local lip cream at that moment, Purbasari Hi Matte (you can read my review on the original colors of Purbasari Hi Matte Lip Cream here, but honestly i was quite hesitant to link it because i just realized that i made the most epic noob editing mistake - i edited my face smaller without paying attention that i made the lipstick disfigured at the process *LOLOLOL*, i am so much better at editing now that i realize my old mistakes and it makes me ashamed, but we all made mistakes sometime and i am not afraid to admit it!) and i quite like them so when Surabaya Beauty Blogger partnered up with them once again for their newest shades, i jumped at the chance ^^.
6 new shades of Purbasari Hi Matte Lip Cream |
The PR box and all the packaging are black, which is the signature color of their Hydra series (they also have an everyday series with white and pink packaging) |
There were 5 original shades and with the 6 addition, they now have a total of 11 shades |
To be honest with you, i am not sure if these 6 new shades are replacing the old 5 shades (meaning the old ones are discontinued) or all 11 are now available in the market - but i checked in their official store (it's GOC store at Shopee) and both the old and new shades are available so i'm guessing the latter guess is more likely.
Anyway, packaging wise - the new shades are identical to the originals.
Comes with black cardboard box with a little opening to let you know the shade inside |
L-R : 06 Dahlia, 07 Viola, 08 Lunaria, 09 Ayanna, 10 Magnolia and 11 Ixia |
When i first saw the new shades, i gotta be honest - i wasn't all that excited. Thing is, some of the shades look pretty similar to the old ones and the color scheme are also very similar. Don't get me wrong, once i try them on i do see the difference, but they still quite similar. I hope they'd come out with more colors and be more daring the color choices in the future :D.
Now, as for the formula. I actually think that even looking at the hand swatches, you can see that the formula of the new shades are quite different to the old one. Which one is better? Well, i personally like the new formula better but it has its flaws too.
If the original formula never dries down completely, this one does. The new formula is a lot lighter, whipped and airy compared to the thicker, denser original formula. Application is not as easy as the original and they are also less pigmented, i have to redip my wand at least once for an opaque result (i mostly didn't have to with the old ones) and they are also quite tricky to apply because of the thinner, whipped consistency - they tend to shift around and leave patches (you can see it on the darker swatches in the picture above). As they are thinner and airier, i find them very comfortable to wear (more comfortable than the original) and as they dry down matte, they are more transfer proof and stay on my lips longer than the old ones.
So for me, i prefer the new formula (and the shades, although similar, are also nicer and easier to wear) even though the fact that for them to really dry down matte and stay longer also means i have to struggle more to put them on, i think it's worth it haha.
Scent wise, i honestly can't remember what the old formula smells like but these new ones has an artificial fruity scent (which is the exact same way i described the old one in the previous blog post so they probably smell the same?) which is pretty strong, personally doesn't bother me but if you are sensitive to artificial scents, it might.
Now, let's talk about the shades!
Purbasari Hi Matte in 06 Dahlia |
I am not really a huge fan of red lips but somehow when i see the photos, i realize i look the best wearing red mostly *LOL*, i guess because red is so striking against my pale complexion? |
Purbasari Hi Matte in 07 Viola - it looks quite dark in the bottle but once applied it translates into a bright, pinky purple |
Purbasari Hi Matte in 08 Lunaria |
Lunaria is the a pinky nude shade, i am usually scared of pale nudes because they make me look sickly - but Lunaria actually has enough pinky-ness in it to make it a perfect nude for me |
Because i can wear Lunaria with very minimal makeup and still look nice, you can see that i don't even look that pale in this photo! Definitely a rare nude that i enjoy! |
Purbasari Hi Matte in 09 Ixia |
If Lunaria is a pinky nude shade, then Ixia is its peachy sister |
Purbasari Hi Matte in 10 Ayanna |
Ayanna is a reddish brown shade, the second darkest shade in the collection and also one of the prettiest |
Ayanna is a step up from Ixia, it is bold but not so bold that you would look weird without full makeup on. It is actually pretty easy to wear and brighten up your complexion effortlessly |
The type of shade that you can wear with bold or neutral eye makeup and won't look out of place |
The last one :
Purbasari Hi Matte in 11 Magnolia |
Magnolia is a deep, dark reddish brown shade. It is a bit similar to 05 Freesia but browner |
And that concludes my review on all 6 new shades of Purbasari Hi Matte Lip Cream. My personal fave are Ixia and Ayanna (quite shocking because i usually prefer darkest shades!), what about you? Have you tried their new shades - if not, let me know in the comment box below which shade would you like to try the most?
If you are interested on getting them (they retail for IDR 52.800) , they are already available in their official store at goc_shop at Shopee.
Thank you Purbasari Indonesia for the chance to try out your lovely products, looking forward to more exciting products in the future ^^!
