Review : Avene XeraCalm A.D Lipid-Replenishing Cleansing Oil and Cream (SPONSORED)

Helloooo ^^..

Any of you guys suffer from very dry skin, so dry that your skin itch? I am fortunate enough to have a healthy, normal skin-but i am surrounded by people suffering from super dry skin condition! To name a few, my hubby, my dad, my nephew and even my 9-year-old son (who's supposed to still have baby soft skin, but due to allergic-he has some super dry spots). Very dry skin can definitely affect your life's quality, we also know that it can be hard to find products that are specifically targeted for very dry, problematic skin.

Those days are gone, because now we have Eau Thermale Avene!
Eau Thermale Avene XeraCalm A.D Lipid-Replenishing Cream and Cleansing Oil
Eau Thermale Avene, or most of us more familiar with in short Avene, should need no introduction. But in case you've been living under the rock (or at least are very ignorant about skin care *LOL*), Avene is one of the leading skin care line in European Pharmacies known for their high quality products catering especially for sensitive, problematic skin (ofc, all skin types can use this brand and reap the extra benefits they offer) which products are all made with thermal skin water.

You can learn more about Avene in their website (somehow Indonesia is not listed in their website yet, so i'm linking up the Singapore site-which is the closest neighboring country hehe). Today i am going to review their Xeracalm A.D line, which is emollient care dedicated to itchy sensation.
The product is so gentle that it can be used on your kids and infants!
First up is the hygene product (coz you need to make sure your skin is clean before starting to apply body care alright!) :
Avene XeraCalm A.D Lipid-Replenishing Cleansing Oil (400ml)
When i heard about cleansing oil, i immediately think of makeup remover because that's the only cleansing oil that i've used before-but this product is a different thing (although it clearly has the same purpose of cleansing your skin).

This cleansing oil actually works in place of a traditional soap, it can be used on both face and body. While all skin types can benefit from this product, this is especially formulated for very dry skin, Atopy-prone skin and  skin prone to itchiness. It is SOAP-FREE, FRAGRANCE-FREE, PHYSIOLOGICAL pH.
The cleansing oil comes in a gigantic (it contains 400ml worth of product) plastic bottle with pump  topper. All Avene product's packaging has the same pharmaceutical, professional white and simple packaging
The cleansing oil is slightly yellowish and very runny
It lathers a little bit, but don't expect plentiful of bubbles (if you're wondering, yes that's hunny's hand alright. My hand has not suddenly got super big and dry looking *LOL)
Ingredient List :
AVENE THERMALE SPRING WATER (AVENE AQUA). GLYCERIN. PEG-7 GLYCERYL COCOATE. DISODIUM LAURETH SULFOSICCUNATE. SODIUM COCOAMPHOACETATE. PEG-25 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL. CETEARETH-60 MYRISTYL GLYCOL PEG-200 HYDROGENATED GLYCERYL PALMATE. LAURETH-3. COCO-GLUCOSIDE. AQUAPHILUS DOLOMIAE EXTRACT. ARGININE. CAPRYLYL GLYCOL. CITRIC ACID. EVENING PRIMROSE OIL/PALM OIL AMINOPROPANEDIOL ESTERS. GLYCINE. OENOTHERA BIENNIS (EVENING PRIMROSE) OIL (OENOTHERA BIENNIS OIL) SORBIC ACID. TOCOPHEROL.

While i did use this product myself, i also roped my husband in because we'll definitely see more result *LOL*. He has very sensitive, very dry (to a point where his skin looks almost scaly sometimes) skin-so dry that his skin often cracks and bleeds. Don't get me started on his skin condition in winter when we go for winter holidays!

Hunny has been using this product every day ever since we received it (it's almost 2 weeks, i think) and i can see and feel tremendous improvement on his skin. Teamed with the cream, his skin is so much softer, healthier, moisturized and all the scaly-looking parts are gone!

I also been using this cleansing oil to wash my face and it works really well for my oily skin too. No breakout, no blackheads, nothing that makes me want to stop using it for sure.

Onto the care product now :
Avene XeraCalm A.D Lipid-Replenishing Cream (200ml)
The cream comes in a regular cardboard box that got mangled during shipping *LOL*, please excuse the less-than-pristine condition!
The cream itself is housed in a large squeeze tube
It has a flip cap with the cutest opening mechanism. The opening looks like it's sealed and i had the longest time trying to figure out to open the seal-turned out you only need to squeeze the tube and the pressure would make the white rings pops out and let the product out, once you stop squeezing the product immediately stops oozing out! This way they make sure you will not spill products out excessively
The cream itself is quite thick, it is very rich and you don't need a lot to use (except if you have very long limbs like my hunny) because it's so rich and very very moisturizing
As the cream is very thick (the feeling it left behind reminds me of body butters, but less greasy), it does take a bit of a work to massage in. In my experience, once they got absorbed in my skin, it still leaves behind a sort of heavy feeling.  It does feel quite greasy and slightly sticky, but the moisturizing power is very high! I apply this cream every night on hunny's skin (this product can also be used on both face and body) and i can still feel how hydrated his skin in the next day (with other products his skin would already be back being dry and scaly in the morning).

This cream is formulated hand in hand with the cleansing oil so for the characteristic and benefits i wouldn't repeat myself to save you from boredom *LOL*.

Ingredient List :
AVENE THERMALE SPRING WATER (AVENE AQUA). GLYCERIN. MINERAL OIL (PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM). CETEARYL ALCOHOL. OENOTHERA BIENNIS (EVENING PRIMROSE) OIL (OENOTHERA BIENNIS OIL). CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE. CETERARYL GLUCOSIDE. AQUAPHILUS DOLOMIAE EXTRACT. ARGININE. CARBOMER. EVENING PRIMROSE OIL :PALM OIL AMINOPROPANEDIOL ESTERS. GLYCINE. SODIUM HYDROXIDE. TOCOPHEROL. WATER (AQUA).

Combination of the cleansing oil and cream really do wonders to hunny's skin! I mean, i do use them too and i feel that it's great but since my skin is already very healthy to begin with (ahem), i doesn't wow me. But i gotta say, hunny's skin condition is borderline miraculous *LOL*. I am not exaggerating, i feel like his skin is in the best condition in a very long while! You can even see a healthy sheen on his skin instead of his usual dull, almost powdery looking (due to dryness, eww) skin!

I won't lie and say that we love everything about these products though-coz i'd be lying, there is one thing that really bothers me and hunny both : the scent. Both products are fragrance free, but being fragrance free doesn't mean scent free okay. All of their ingredients mixed together, they have a scent alright. Keep in mind, my blogging friends Shelvi and Dyta both claim that they do not smell anything off so it's purely personal taste, but hunny and i are not the biggest fan of the scent.

The cleansing oil scent already bothers me enough to have to hold my breath whenever i use it (and hunny-who has an over active gagging reflex-keeps on gagging in the shower), but the cream... It has this weird, almost egg-like scent that i feel the need to immediately shower whenever i use it. Again, this is just me and hunny (and my other blogging friend Gadis who has the same reaction as us-or worse), you might not notice any scent at all like Shelvi and Dyta-but for us... The scent really bothers us.

But still, it does miracle for hunny's skin. The positive definitely far outweigh the negative so i'm going to continue make him use it everyday!

Avene products are not the cheapest (i am not sure of the exact price, but based on the information i found online both products are over IDR 500k each) but for skin with special needs-it's definitely worth it!

I would highly recommend these products for people with very dry, sensitive, itchy skin.
Thank you Avene Indonesia and Clozette Indonesia for the chance to try out these products.
